1099 part-time TMS job
Hello!
I have been speaking with a TMS clinic for some 1099 contract work. They have offered to pay $800/patient - it's a one time fee for my services for the patient's full TMS treatment course, which will include:
- initial eval+mapping by me (they are saying it would, at most, take a combined total of 90 mins for both - Brainsway machine)
- follow-up visit with me at around treatment #20 for SOME patients (those who are doing fine will see midlevels and not me), and

New grad suspicious scheduling
I graduated this year and am working in New England. The practice I work for has one other doc and is managed by her husband. I'm currently making good money, producing 14-17k a week thanks to their high fee schedule even though I haven't been that busy. My contract is 34% collections. Once in a while the owner will slip their non-productive procedures into my schedule, I've done at least 20 crown inserts in the three months I've been there on her patients. Locums unlawfully broke contract x 2, advice regarding litigation, finding lawyer

I had two locums companies canceling assignment despite contract and schedule contract being signed in the past year, providing no explanation as to why it was canceled. Both canceled about a week prior to beginning of shift, and in one case had to obtain a DEA which cost $880. Psychiatry Scribe or ED Scribe?
I recently got two scribe jobs, one is in the psychiatry department and the other is in the ED.
The ED one is with a larger scribe company
The psychiatry one is with a smaller, contract company and will allow me to work in multiple psychiatry units (behavioral health, geriatric psychiatry, crisis stabilization, and the ER (limited to psychiatric patients I would think)). My supervisor said they will also be able to provide a letter of rec after my completion.

W2 vs 1099
Anyone have a good resource on how to decide whether to go 1099 vs W2? I have read quite a but about on WCI and other sites but still found myself a bit confused. If pay is the same, does it make most sense to go W2 as the employer would be paying for social security and would have less tax obligations? I am currently all 1099 with my jobs and wondering if I am screwing myself by not picking a W2 contract instead. I mostly work as needed at a few different sites. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contracts structure and provider protection
I am just curious on some feedback from the rest of the crew. I notice that contracts from large organization ie Envision (more so), TeamHealth, NAPA, etc. have gotten significantly more onerous with no protection for the provider (except maybe in states like California). Most contracts state you can be fired for cause or no cause on the spot, while requiring 90 day separation notices from the provider that if violated carry legal penalties or promises of "blacklisting." Does anyone know anything about Sound Physicians? They seem to be aggressively taking over hospital contracts from private groups in our area. Does anyone know if it costs money to become uncredentialed by insurance companies?
I am changing jobs from a practice where I am credentialed with insurance companies to a fee for service practice. To drop insurance companies, is there a fee associated with that? I just want to make sure before finishing contract negotiations.
