1099 part-time TMS job
Hello! I have been speaking with a TMS clinic for some 1099 contract work. They have offered to pay $800/patient - it's a one time fee for my services for the patient's full TMS treatment course, which will include: - initial eval+mapping by me (they are saying it would, at most, take a combined total of 90 mins for both - Brainsway machine) - follow-up visit with me at around treatment #20 for SOME patients (those who are doing fine will see midlevels and not me), and - further visits... New grad suspicious scheduling
I graduated this year and am working in New England. The practice I work for has one other doc and is managed by her husband. I'm currently making good money, producing 14-17k a week thanks to their high fee schedule even though I haven't been that busy. My contract is 34% collections. Once in a while the owner will slip their non-productive procedures into my schedule, I've done at least 20 crown inserts in the three months I've been there on her patients. IMO, this is unprofessional. I've... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums unlawfully broke contract x 2, advice regarding litigation, finding lawyer
Hello, I had two locums companies canceling assignment despite contract and schedule contract being signed in the past year, providing no explanation as to why it was canceled. Both canceled about a week prior to beginning of shift, and in one case had to obtain a DEA which cost $880. In both cases, there were some red flags about client / locums that prompted me to request cancellation of assignment, but locums applied pressure (including threatening litigation) before they canceled on me... Psychiatry Scribe or ED Scribe?
I recently got two scribe jobs, one is in the psychiatry department and the other is in the ED. The ED one is with a larger scribe company The psychiatry one is with a smaller, contract company and will allow me to work in multiple psychiatry units (behavioral health, geriatric psychiatry, crisis stabilization, and the ER (limited to psychiatric patients I would think)). My supervisor said they will also be able to provide a letter of rec after my completion. Which one do you think would... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ApolloMD
Unsure if you guys saw the Reddit thread about Apollo.. TLDR they are having their 1099 docs pay for the MLPs at their site in Patterson NJ. Someone mentioned this was the site that the old acep prez Rosenberg was part of.. Anyone know what happened with that contract? Did Apollo throw out a sdg or did the SDG sell? Options and real estate wedlock - a beginner level trade on a real estate backed asset
I hope this post ages well over time. Do your own due diligence. I'm NOT a financial advisor. Just a dude that likes to play with money. I've probably received a dozen or so messages from different people regarding options and/or real estate. In the spirit of education, here's a trade that I think is significantly better than any syndication out there. So anyone considering investing in a syndication, should consider this trade as well. I personally hold 725 of the following contracts and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

W2 vs 1099
Anyone have a good resource on how to decide whether to go 1099 vs W2? I have read quite a but about on WCI and other sites but still found myself a bit confused. If pay is the same, does it make most sense to go W2 as the employer would be paying for social security and would have less tax obligations? I am currently all 1099 with my jobs and wondering if I am screwing myself by not picking a W2 contract instead. I mostly work as needed at a few different sites. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contracts structure and provider protection
I am just curious on some feedback from the rest of the crew. I notice that contracts from large organization ie Envision (more so), TeamHealth, NAPA, etc. have gotten significantly more onerous with no protection for the provider (except maybe in states like California). Most contracts state you can be fired for cause or no cause on the spot, while requiring 90 day separation notices from the provider that if violated carry legal penalties or promises of "blacklisting." I know of some... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sound Physicians
Does anyone know anything about Sound Physicians? They seem to be aggressively taking over hospital contracts from private groups in our area. Rumor has it that they are backed by private equity & United healthcare, and strongly promote midlevel practice. Anyone had personal experience? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does anyone know if it costs money to become uncredentialed by insurance companies?
I am changing jobs from a practice where I am credentialed with insurance companies to a fee for service practice. To drop insurance companies, is there a fee associated with that? I just want to make sure before finishing contract negotiations. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract Non-Renwal due to FFD Testing (Desperate need for guidance)
Hi-- I am reaching out today after months of uncertainties and ultimately running out of any resources/outlets to provide any advice or guidance. I will try my best to keep this short but feel free to ask about any missing info/details as I don't have any intentions to hide anything. I am an American medical graduate currently in my PGY-2 year in a Psychiatry program. I passed Step 1 and Step 2 on first attempt and was in good standing throughout college and medical school (no disciplinary... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Negotiating a contract at academic hematology positions NYC metro area
Hello I was wondering how much negotiating you can do on the offers they give you? Will they be open if I ask for a higher compensation or more vacation time? Also any NYC hospitals to avoid? Thanks for your help. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Negotiating new employment contract
Hi all, I am roughly a year out from my first contract (a two-year contract) expiring. This is my first position after graduating residency. I think overall the position itself is good as far as employed positions go. Without going into too much detail, this is an outpatient position at a hospital-associated clinic which is part of a small hospital system. They've had a few psychiatrists leave across the system within the last year, and are having difficulty hiring psychiatrists or middle... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
