Gross total resection of spinal chondrosarcoma is associated with improved locoregional relapse-free survival and overall survival
ConclusionAlthough in our study en bloc and GTR were associated with improved survival, heterogenous and complex spinal presentations may limit total resection. Therefore, the surgical management should be tailored individually to ensure the best local control and maximum preservation of function. (Source: European Spine Journal)

GSE214180 Methylation profiling of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma (DDCS) samples
Contributors : Josephine K Dermawan ; Meera HameedSeries Type : Methylation profiling by genome tiling arrayOrganism : Homo sapiensGenome wide DNA methylation profiling of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma samples. Genomic DNA was extracted from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue after manual macrodissection to ensure at least 10% tumor content, followed by bisulfite converstion. All samples were processed on the Infinium 850k array and scanned using the Illumina iScan, according to the manufacturer's recommended protocol. Rare Association Between Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Chondrosarcoma: Could a Pathogenic Variant in the Gene SERPINF1 Explain It?
AbstractOsteogenesis imperfecta (OI) type VI is a rare inherited disorder of the connective tissue caused by pathogenic variants in SERPINF1 gene, which encodes the pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF). PEDF is implicated in many biologic processes, including an anti-cancer role. This information is supported by in vitro and in vivo studies that evidenced its anti-angiogenic, anti-tumorigenic, and anti-metastatic properties. Although OI is related to skeletal changes such as bone fragility and deformities, as well as to other connective tissue defects, it does not represent a greater predisposition to the development...

GSE193382 Role of CCN3 on Hs578T triple negative breast cancer cell line
Contributors : Incheol Shin ; Seogho SonSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensTranscriptome sequencing analysis of Hs578T control (CTRL sh) and CCN3 knockdown (CCN3 sh) cell lines. CCN3, also known as nephroblastoma overexpressed (NOV, NOVH), has been associated with cell migration, invasion, angiogenesis, adhesion and proliferation in several cancer types like Ewing ’s sarcoma, glioma, prostate cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, clear cell renal cell carcinoma, chondrosarcoma and melanoma. These results provide information about gene expression affected by CCN3 in triple...

Transthoracic fine needle aspiration cytology of pulmonary spindle and mesenchymal neoplasms: a pandora ’s box
Conclusion: FNA along with clot core and IHC plays a pivotal role in the subsequent pathway taken for diagnostic or therapeutic management of these patients without the need for second sampling or trucut biopsies in a low resource setting. (Source: Acta Cytologica)

Intralesional curettage and cementation of low-grade chondrosarcomas of the appendicular skeleton: Long-term results from a single center
CONCLUSION: Intralesional curettage and cementation seem safe and reliable techniques with low recurrence and complication rates in treating low-grade chondrosarcomas of the appendicular skeleton. Clinical, radiological, and pathological evaluations are mandatory before surgical intervention, and a multidisciplinary approach is crucial. A strict follow-up regimen in the early postoperative period is needed and strongly recommended to detect local recurrence.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level IV, Therapeutic Study.PMID:36567544 | DOI:10.5152/j.aott.2022.22091 (Source: Acta Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica)
