Electromyographic predictors of abducens nerve palsy after endoscopic skull base surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The presence of f-EMG activity, lack of CMAP response to stimulation, decreased CMAP amplitude, and increased CMAP onset latency were associated with immediately postoperative ANP. Long-term ANP outcomes may be associated with t-EMG parameters, including whether the nerve is able to be stimulated once identified and CMAP amplitude. Future prospective studies may be designed to standardize abducens nerve electrophysiological monitoring protocols to further refine operative and prognostic utility.PMID:38157534 | DOI:10.3171/2023.10.JNS23648 (Source: Journal of Neurosurgery)

CT and MR imaging findings of head and neck chondrosarcoma
ConclusionsHCNS showed various imaging findings according to their origin and pathologic subtype. HNCS should be differentiated if a bone tumor shows internal calcification and affects the adjacent bone. When diagnosing slow-growing soft tissue tumors, even if low possibility, HNCS should be considered. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma of the buttock: a case report and literature review
BackgroundExtraosseous myxoid chondrosarcoma (EMC) is extremely rare, and the case we report is of a particular site with partial bone destruction.Case presentationThis case report can further strengthen the understanding of EMC and guide clinical treatment. The patient presented with a right buttock mass that was present for 1 year and that had gradually enlarged with tenderness for 6 months. The diagnosis was EMC. The interventions included puncture biopsy, surgical resection, and postoperative chemotherapy. The tumor was resected extensively, and the postoperative recovery was satisfactory. There was no recurrence or me...

Delay in Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Bone Tumors
CONCLUSIONS: 1. Although patients show typical symptoms of bone tumors, only a small proportion are referred directly to an oncology center. After a primary bone tumor is suspected, further diagnostic and therapeutic activities proceed efficiently, in accordance with the current guidelines.PMID:38078348 | DOI:10.5604/01.3001.0053.4026 (Source: Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja)

Chondrosarcoma secondary to hereditary multiple osteochondromas with spinal cord compression: A case report and systematic review
CONCLUSION: Chondrosarcomas secondary to HMO with spinal cord compression are rare. These patients often presenting with significant myelopathy/cord compression should undergo gross total resection where feasible to achieve the best outcomes.PMID:38053698 | PMC:PMC10695461 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_797_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)
