Chondrosarcoma of the Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinuses: A Rare Entity
Conclusions: The primary treatment for chondrosarcomas remains surgery, with a transnasal endoscopic approach offering a viable option for complete resection in select cases.PMID:38655844 | DOI:10.1177/01455613241249028 (Source: Ear, Nose and Throat Journal)

Oncolytic virotherapy stimulates anti ‑tumor immune response and demonstrates activity in advanced sarcoma: Report of two cases
Oncol Lett. 2024 Apr 3;27(6):244. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14377. eCollection 2024 Jun.ABSTRACTSarcoma is derived from mesenchymal neoplasms and has numerous subtypes, accounting for 1% of all adult malignancies and 15% of childhood malignancies. The prognosis of metastatic or recurrent sarcoma remains poor. The current study presents two cases of sarcoma enrolled in a phase I dose escalation trial for solid tumor, who had previously failed all standard therapies. These patients were treated with VG161, an immune-stimulating herpes simplex virus type 1 oncolytic virus with payloads of IL-12, IL-15 and IL-15 receptor α unit, a...

A CT-based radiomics nomogram for predicting histologic grade and outcome in chondrosarcoma
The preoperative identification of tumor grade in chondrosarcoma (CS) is crucial for devising effective treatment strategies and predicting outcomes. The study aims to build and validate a CT-based radiomics n... (Source: Cancer Imaging)

Fibrocartilaginous Dysplasia of the Proximal Femur in Two Pediatric Patients, Including a Pathologic Fracture in a Patient With McCune-Albright Syndrome
We report the clinical presentation, imaging findings, and management of two pediatric patients with fibrocartilaginous dysplasia of the proximal femur to (1) highlight that recognition that fibrous dysplasia may contain cartilage upon frozen section will avoid overly aggressive therapy, and (2) FCD can occur in the McCune-Albright syndrome.PMID:38587471 | DOI:10.1080/15513815.2024.2320341 (Source: Fetal and Pediatric Pathology)

A systematic review and meta-analysis of radiotherapy and particle beam therapy for skull base chondrosarcoma: TRP-chondrosarcoma 2024
CONCLUSION: PT for skull base chondrosarcoma had a good outcome and may be a valuable option among radiotherapy modalities. However, high-dose postoperative irradiation of skull base chondrosarcoma can cause adverse events such as temporal lobe necrosis.PMID:38567162 | PMC:PMC10985235 | DOI:10.3389/fonc.2024.1380716 (Source: Cancer Control)

Postoperative infection and bone sarcoma survival: systematic review of the role of infection in bone sarcoma prognosis
CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective study and systematic review suggests postoperative infection may play a role in modulating immune response to malignancy. Understanding the synergy between anti-pathogen and anti-cancer responses warrants further investigation as an alternative method of targeted cancer treatment.PMID:38529233 | PMC:PMC10929285 | DOI:10.21037/aoj-22-41 (Source: Cancer Control)
