Maternal exposure to beta-Cypermethrin disrupts placental development by dysfunction of trophoblast cells from oxidative stress
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of β-CYP exposure on placental development and the function of trophoblast, as well as the underlying mechanisms through CD-1 mouse model (1, 10, 20mg/kg.bw) and in vitro HTR-8/SVneo cell model (12.5, 25, 50, 100μM). We found slower weight gain and reduced uterine wet weight in pregnant mice with maternal exposure to β-CYP during pregnancy, as well as adverse pregnancy outcomes such as uterine bleeding and embryo resorption. The abnormal placental development in response to β-CYP was noticed, including imbalanced placental structure and disrupted labyrinthine va...

Natural Products That Protect Against Acetaminophen Hepatotoxicity: A Call for Increased Rigor in Preclinical Studies of Dietary Supplements
J Diet Suppl. 2024 Apr 1:1-18. doi: 10.1080/19390211.2024.2335573. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAcetaminophen (APAP) overdose is one of the most common causes of acute liver injury. The current standard-of-care treatment for APAP hepatotoxicity, N-acetyl-l-cysteine, is highly effective when administered early after overdose, but loses efficacy in later-presenting patients. As a result, there is interest in the identification of new treatments for APAP overdose patients. Natural products are a promising source of new treatments because many are purported to have hepatoprotective effects. In fact, a great deal of research h...

High-dose ascorbate exerts anti-tumor activities and improves inhibitory effect of carboplatin through the pro-oxidant function pathway in uterine serous carcinoma cell lines
CONCLUSIONS: Ascorbate has potent antitumor activity and acts synergistically with carboplatin through its pro-oxidant effects. Clinical trials of ascorbate combined with carboplatin as adjuvant treatment of uterine serous carcinoma are worth exploring.PMID:38555710 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.03.021 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

p53 inhibitor or antioxidants reduce the severity of ethmoid plate deformities in zebrafish Type 3 Treacher Collins syndrome model
Int J Biol Macromol. 2024 Mar 29:131216. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2024.131216. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTreacher Collins syndrome-3 (TCS-3) is a rare congenital craniofacial disorder attributed to variants in the RNA pol I subunit C (POLR1C). The pathogenesis of TCS-3 linked to polr1c involves the activation of apoptosis-dependent p53 pathways within neural crest cells (NCCs). This occurs due to disruptions in ribosome biogenesis, and the restoration of polr1c expression in early embryogenesis effectively rescues the observed craniofacial phenotype in polr1c-deficient zebrafish. Clinical variability in TCS patients sug...

In vivo Tebuconazole administration impairs heart electrical function and facilitates the occurrence of dobutamine-induced arrhythmias: Involvement of reactive oxygen species
In conclusion, TEB at the no observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) dose adversely affects heart electrical function, increases arrhythmic susceptibility, partially through ROS overproduction, and this phenotype is reversible by scavenging ROS with NAC.PMID:38556154 | DOI:10.1016/j.fct.2024.114596 (Source: Food and Chemical Toxicology)
