Does native vitamin D, or active vitamin D modulate the neutralising antibody responses to COVID-19 vaccination in haemodialysis patients?
CONCLUSIONS: The response to COVID-19 vaccination was reduced in our elderly haemodialysis patients compared to younger less frail patients, however there was no overall demonstrable effect of either 25-Vitamin D3 levels or the prescription of activated forms of Vitamin D on the immune response following vaccination against COVID-19, unless patients had previously tested positive for COVID-19.PMID:38561893 | DOI:10.1177/03913988241241204 (Source: The International Journal of Artificial Organs)

Exploration of vitamin D metabolic activity-related biological effects and corresponding therapeutic targets in prostate cancer
Previous studies have unequivocally demonstrated that the vitamin D (VD) metabolism pathway significantly influences prognosis and sensitivity to hormone therapy in prostate cancer (PCa). However, the precise ... (Source: Nutrition and Metabolism)

Multivitamins co-intake can reduce the prevalence of kidney stones: a large-scale cross-sectional study
ConclusionsOur research revealed that high levels of vitamin B6 and vitamin D intake were linked to a lower prevalence of kidney stone. With the gradual increase intake of vitamin C, the prevalence of kidney calculi decreased first and then increased. In addition, the co-exposure of nine vitamins is a protective factor for kidney stone disease. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

Vitamin D inhibits ferroptosis and mitigates the kidney injury of prediabetic mice by activating the Klotho/p53 signaling pathway
In conclusion, ferroptosis occurs in the kidney of prediabetic mice and VD owns a protective effect on prediabetic kidney injury, possibly by via the Klotho/p53 pathway, thus inhibiting hyperglycemia-induced ferroptosis. (Source: Apoptosis)

Vitamin D and skin cancer: a controversial society. Literature update and review
Actas Dermosifiliogr. 2024 Mar 29:S0001-7310(24)00265-5. doi: 10.1016/j.ad.2024.03.019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVitamin D (VD) deficiency has been associated with various tumors. However, the association between VD and skin cancer is controversial. Although in non-melanoma skin cancer, adequate or even high levels of VD can be associated with a higher risk of developing tumors, this could be biased by the direct association between sun exposure and VD levels. Regarding melanoma, results are contradictory. Most studies analyzed state that higher levels of VD could reduce the risk of melanoma, be associated with melano...
