Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State
Please help OOS for both, where tuition is relatively the same as well as curriculum structure (besides KSU being non-tracking). Leaning towards practicing rural mixed animal GP (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Penn State vs. SLU vs. Temple vs. SUNY Buffalo
Pennsylvania State College of Medicine Pros > Low cost of living 1.5-year preclinical (established) Good research opportunities Really good match list Smaller class size Cons > Classes start in July Rural environment (middle of PA), patient population is not very diverse (?) Rural Pediatrics
I recently moved to a small town in rural Southeast US and the patient census is nearly non-existant. I get, on average, five patients a day. Occasionally I have a full eight-hour shift with zero patients. I work for an FQHC, so I don't have any control over who I see - instead, I am just expected to remain available for any potential walk-ins or rescheduled patients. Compared to my last job, I'm bored to tears and feel that my skills are being wasted. I have to stay at this FQHC in order to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cigna QZ modifier change
Cigna starting to reimburse 15% less for qz modifier with other insurance companies expected to follow suit… what’s everyone’s thoughts on this? Ultimately pretty good for our profession. Wonder if the rural hospitals allowing crna only care will make a shift. More crnas moving to plastics? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

help with deciding: UC Davis vs Pitt
(let me know if I should post this elsewhere) Feel extremely lucky that I get to have a choice! I’ve been going back and forth so interested to hear feedback. Also interested to hear if I missed anything or if my pros/cons are off from what you’ve heard/know. UC Davis: Pros - close to support system, in-state tuition, opportunities for urban & rural clinical experiences Cons - research opportunities on my own time, smaller medical system Pitt: Pros - higher... Dental help
I wanted to get some input regarding others' experiences with community dentists. Right now I have 3-4 patients waiting to be cleared or have extractions, some waiting on the order of months. I just had one patient's dentist make sure to let us know he is NOT cleared and that he needs 3 more scalings done before he can start radiation (bizarre). Could just be the area I work in (I work in a rural setting), but it's like pulling teeth to get dentists and oral surgeons to do their jobs... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is your code recovery rate?
Recently had been reflecting on the recents codes I have had. I previously worked in a rural town in America for the span of a few years, it felt I had approximately half of the people code achieve ROSC. Yes, a lot of them were likely brain dead but it felt great to be able to let the family say goodbye one last time with the patient 'alive' with some folks having some meaningful recovery. Over the span of my last few months working in a busy city ER in the South, I can not recall the last... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Moonlighting
I received approval from my PD to a start moonlighting and got credentialed at a 7bed ER in the middle of nowhere rural area. First shift is a night shift next week. Nervous but also excited. What is the income potential of a general dentist or Ortho?
Hey all! I have recently been accepted into dental school and was wondering what my potential income will be (starting to plan out financials). I know income varies on many different levels; private practice, rural or urban, the state I want to live in, etc. A few Questions: On the lower end, what income could I expect for a dentist working 4-5 days a week as an associate? What about on the higher end? (Average daily pay?) My ideal plan: (private practice) After graduating, I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mayo (AZ) vs Long vs IU (Terre Haute) vs SLU vs UIC (RMED)
Hi all, This is my first post here, and after reading a lot of other threads, I decided that I might want to post my own and get some tailored advice. Sorry for the long list, but they are all genuinely in consideration. I have some general Pro's and Con's for the schools, but really I do not know the significance of each item in the long run. Any input is valued! Thanks. Some background, I am from rural Indiana, went to school in rural Illinois, and thinking (not sure) of going into a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Next demand in pharmacy? Other than retail :)
Hello all, On your expert opinion, what do you predict to be a potential area of demand in the pharmacy field in the foreseeable future? I am a pharmacist with the following experience: 2-year teaching/research fellowship in the academic setting, 1 year pharmacy manager in a rural retail setting, 1 year float retail pharmacist. Seeking a career transition potentially within the field and maybe with some additional training, but not sure at all where pharmacists/pharmacist skills have a... volunteer/clinical opportunities tailored to non-trad with tech/engineering background
I'm starting my pre-med postbac this fall, after a decade working as a software engineer. IE very far on the spectrum of non-trad My background is in IOT/embedded, and I'm very interested in the application of such to improve patient outcomes, especially where access & connectivity are poor (my state, Idaho, is quite rural, and near dead-last in the nation in many metrics here). I've quit my job and have about 6 months ("Do, or Do Not", right?) before full-time... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
