Am I considered disadvantaged? (english second language)
I came to the United States alone when I was 19 years old. In South Korea, I lived in a rural area where I did not have a chance to speak English since the public school I attended only taught reading and listening English. Without experience in speaking and writing English, having to write essays and communicating with professors in college was not easy. I had to spend longer time than others to finish homework and send a simple email. After realizing that I need to invest a long time to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC/School List Help: URM, 515 MCAT, 3.77/3.75 cGPA/sGPA, okay-ish ECs?
Unsure on how to approach last-minute school adds and whether it is worth it given my clinical experience (or lack thereof). App is submitted+verified with a handful of schools so far, and I am teetering between shooting my shot at more schools or focusing on bolstering my application for the future. 3.77 cGPA and 3.75 sGPA, ever so slight upward trend 515 MCAT -- 127/130/126/132 Resident of Kansas (rural, underserved town) Mexican-American male (fluent in Spanish) Public... After that I started as an EMT with a 911 service in rural area, accumulated 1400 hours(paid). Which medical schools have an emphasis on rural primary care, yet also have decent OOS acceptance rates?
I am quite interested in rural primary care, and I have built my application narrative around that interest. I am planning to apply to both MD and DO. Are there specific schools that accept OOS applicants that also place significant emphasis on rural primary care? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rural Hospital - Non-Surgical
Currently MSG employed in Florida. Currently looking into some rural work closer to where my family lives. There is one particular hospital that is interested but they are VERY rural and do not have an OR. How feasible is it for a Podiatrist to work full-time at such a location while also being non-surgical? I feel like a significant portion of the revenue that we generate (especially in rural locations) is OR based. Super specific scenario but has anyone had experience with full-time rural... Intimidated by Student Loan Debt- Discussion about whether or not its worth it to pursue dentistry?
Hi I am debating about whether or not I should pursue dentistry. I got into a school but am extremely intimidated by the price tag. I also want to specialize so I know I will walk out of dental school/residency with more than $700K-800K in debt (not including interest). I have a job lined up to get into tech so I don't know if it is the best financial decision. I would definitely go into dental school if it were cheaper/free. I also don't want to live in a rural area after graduation, nor do... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Consequences of pre-clinical class failure on match
I failed and remediated neuro 1 around this time last year during OMS-1. Got an A in neuro 2. Expecting a 30th percentile score on boards based on practice materials and my class rank (Step and Level 1 will be P/F for me though). I'm interested in psych but open to anything, depending on which rotations I enjoy the most. I'm passionate about public health so also see myself doing FM or IM in an underserved region, rural or urban. I spent about a decade working before I got to medical school... LOR Question
Hi all! I have a question regarding a LOR. For some background: I started working as a medical scribe for a very well-known physician in my *rural* college town community. They had one shift a week that needed filled, and so I did and have loved it! I am planning to work more than that for the upcoming semester, but realistically only saw her once a week for a 5-6 hour shift for about a semester. Now I am applying for a medical school’s Rural Health program that if accepted, would guarantee... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

KCU-COM (KC) vs. CUSOM vs. NYITCOM (LI)
Hello! I am very grateful to receive acceptances from NYITCOM (LI), KCU-COM (KC) and CUSOM. However, I am having a hard time deciding between the three schools. Preferably, I would like to live in a more urban setting than rural although I will be studying most of the time so it's not a big factor. Staying closer to home is not a big factor either, but it may be more convenient in case I need to go home, family needs to come up such as moving in, or traveling home for holidays. Any advice... Can I include these clinical experiences?
Hello! I just recently completed my certification to become an Advanced EMT (AEMT) after having my basic certification since 2020. I am just now applying for jobs as an ER tech with this certification, and will hopefully have one that I can at least include on my primary before the end of the month. However, throughout my advanced EMT course, I had the opportunity to do about 30 hours of rotations at a very rural emergency room in Georgia, where I was able to observe the doctor on call and... non amphetamine stimulants
I'm PMR/Pain and used stimulants both amphetamine based and others such as provigil when I treated traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients both in and outpatient during my PMR residency. I now do Pain in the Rocky Mountains and 2 days a month I travel to a remote town and my best referrer there is asking for help with some mild TBI/CVA patients, and there is nothing but primary care in this very rural area. I have a couple patients there who would benefit from a stimulant, but I'd like to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
