Relationship between Alcohol Intake and Stroke Severity in Japanese Patients: a Sex- and Subtype-Stratified Analysis
Stroke is a severe disease that causes disability in many patients, warranting the urgent development of treatment options.1-4 Previous studies have reported that the risk of hemorrhagic stroke (HS) linearly increases with increasing alcohol intake.5-12 Furthermore, moderate alcohol intake has been shown to lower the risk of ischemic stroke (IS), and a J-curve association has been observed between alcohol consumption and morbidity rate of IS.7-14 These reports were similar in that they considered alcohol intake as a risk factor for stroke development.

Anterior Circulation Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Plateau of China: Risk Factors and Clinical Characteristics
ConclusionsThe natural habituation and genetic adaptation of people to the particular geo-climatic environment of the plateau have resulted in significant differences in disease characteristics. Patients with the anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke in the plateau show more unfavorable clinical manifestations and prognosis. This study provides a preliminary interpretation of the effects of altitude and suggests developing preventive and therapeutic protocol measures that are more appropriate for the plateau of China.

Improved Cognitive Function in the Tromso Study in Norway From 2001 to 2016
Discussion Cognitive results were better in more recent-born birth cohorts compared with earlier born, assessed at the same age. The improvement was present in all cognitive domains, suggesting an overall improvement in cognitive performance. The 80-year-olds assessed in 2015–2016 performed like 60-year-olds assessed in 2001. The improved scores were associated with increased education level, increase in modest drinking frequency, increased physical activity, and, for men, smoking cessation and increased height.

Acute symptomatic seizures in the emergency room: predictors and characteristics
ConclusionsIn one quarter of patients presenting to the ER after an epileptic fit, the seizure had an acute symptomatic genesis. The independently associated variables may help to early identify ASS and initiate management of the underlying condition.

Risk factors associated with new-onset epilepsy in young adults: Population-based study
CONCLUSION: Brain neoplasms and stroke were the most prevalent risk factors associated with new-onset epilepsy in young adults. Furthermore, adult-onset IGE were common in our cohort. Pure Thalamic Infarct: 8-Year Follow-Up Study in a Hospital in China
In conclusion, our cohort of pure thalamic infarcts were mainly due to SVO (TOAST), with hypertension as the main risk factor, and the inferolateral artery as the most implicated arterial territory. Less severe outcome or stroke recurrence are identified in long-term follow-up of pure thalamic infarcts. Other comorbidities would be cause of death in aged patients.

Age-Related Disparities in Stroke Knowledge Among Community Older Adults
Conclusion: The older adults and the oldest old had significantly high disparities in stroke knowledge. Given the aging population across China, the life expectancy is expected to be longer in future decades. These differences should be addressed in stroke educational campaigns targeting the oldest old.
