Primary urethral carcinoma: Results from a single center experience
Actas Urol Esp. 2021 Jul 28:S0210-4806(21)00096-6. doi: 10.1016/j.acuro.2020.10.014. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION AND AIM OF THE STUDY: Primary urethral carcinoma (PUC) is a rare neoplastic disease arising in the urethra, without any evidence of a previous or synchronous carcinoma of the entire urinary tract. Since rare diseases are often incorrectly diagnosed and managed, the aim of this study was to analyze the experience of a single urology center in the treatment of PUC, focusing on neoplasms arising from the male anterior urethra.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Medical records of patients with neoplasms at the le...

Advancing intraoperative magnetic tracing using 3D freehand magnetic particle imaging
ConclusionfhMPI is feasible in vivo, providing 3D imaging and navigation for magnetic nanoparticles in the operating room, expanding the guidance possibilities during magnetic sentinel lymph node procedures. Furthermore, the integration of ICG provides the ability to visually refine and confirm correct localization. Further clinical evaluation should verify these findings in human patients as well. Advanced Penile Cancer Presenting With Renal Failure
Oncology (Williston Park). 2021 Jul 13;35(7):425-428. doi: 10.46883/ONC.2021.3507.0425.ABSTRACT"MK," a man aged 67 years, presented with fatigue and nausea to his primary care physician. Routine blood tests showed a stage III acute kidney injury and the patient was admitted urgently into the hospital for investigation. On initial assessment by the nursing staff, with urine dip and bladder scan, he was found to have a large fungating mass on his penis. Upon further questioning, MK reported having had trouble with urination for a number of years and that he had been concealing the mass for at least 1 year due to embarrassmen...

Male genital lichen planus: A retrospective study of 89 cases
CONCLUSION: Male genital LP is a rare inflammatory disorder chiefly affecting uncircumcised men. It is found predominantly on the mucosal component of the penis and presents as non-erosive inflammatory balanitis in most cases, with frequent partial or complete remission on treatment with TCS.PMID:34218935 | DOI:10.1016/j.annder.2021.04.007 (Source: Annales de Dermatologie et de Cenereologie)

Recommendations and clinical validation of inguinal clinical target volume (ctv) delineation in penile cancer
This study determines the patterns of distribution of inguinal nodes and optimal margin needed around the femoral vessels to propose guidelines for inguinal CTV delineation in penile cancer. Methods and materials: Patients with biopsy proven penile squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) with inguinal node metastases were identified on a CT scan. Distribution of nodes and distance of nodes to the nearest femoral vessel and inferior edge of pubic symphysis (IPS) was obtained. A three-dimensional CTV margin to cover 95% of the nodes was estimated to evolve contouring guidelines. (Source: International Journal of Radiation Oncology * Biology * Physics)

Penile Calciphylaxis
A 66-year-old male presented with five days of penile pain and ulceration. The patient had a history of stage 5 chronic kidney disease and repeatedly declined hemodialysis. Wound and urine cultures were unrevealing. CT of the abdomen and pelvis did not reveal any evidence of Fournier's gangrene but identified diffuse severe calcific vasculopathy. Urology and dermatology agreed on the diagnosis of penile calciphylaxis. While diagnosis of calciphylaxis often includes histologic evidence of obstructive vasculopathy, biopsy of penile calciphylaxis is contraindicated due to increased morbidity and mortality. A Massive Penile Tumor
A 58-year old man presented with a large penoscrotal mass. Physical examination demonstrated a massive, cauliflower-like, firm tumor appearing to arise from the left hemiscrotum deviating his penis to right as well as palpable inguinal lymph nodes (Figure 1A). Computed tomography showed a 16 cm x 8 cm mass arising from the left hemiscrotum involving the base of the penis, and bilateral inguinal and pelvic lymphadenopathy but otherwise without distant metastatic disease (Figure 2). Biopsy demonstrated scrotal intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2/3. (Source: Urology)

Case Report: 18F-PSMA PET/CT May Improve the Clinical Management of Penile Metastases From Prostate Cancer
Metastases from prostate cancer (PCa) to the penis are extremely rare, and few case reports exist in the literature. Because most patients usually present with multiple distant metastases at diagnosis, the prognosis is very poor. With the wide application of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT, penile metastases may be detected at an early stage. Thus, questions regarding whether early diagnosis and precise treatment will equate to a survival advantage have recently been raised. In the present study, we reported 3 cases of penile metastasis from castration-resistant PCa. Moreover, a patient with asymptomatic p...

Cutaneous calciphylaxis of the glans penis presenting as a gangrenous ulceration
We report a 67-year-old man with calciphylaxis revealed by an unusual necrotic ulcer of the glans penis. The patient also presented with bilateral panniculitis of the thighs and a calf ulcer. All those lesions were painful, highlighting the value of pain as a diagnostic clue. Penile involvement of calciphylaxis is rare and biopsy is often avoided in this area. However, rapid diagnosis of calciphylaxis is important because early treatment has a better chance of being successful. Our patient's condition deteriorated rapidly with development of bilateral retinal artery occlusion and he died shortly thereafter. This case furth...
