New insight in penile cancer.
Authors: Marchioni M, Berardinelli F, De Nunzio C, Spiess P, Porpiglia F, Schips L, Cindolo L Abstract Penile cancer is a rare disease. Most of penile cancer are squamous cell carcinoma. Diagnosis is based on self-examination, clinical examination and confirmatory biopsy. Several imaging technique could be used for staging purpose. However, the best modality for staging in intermediate and high risk patients is by surgical evaluation and the use of inguinal lymph node dissection, that has also a therapeutic effect. Unfortunately, inguinal lymph node dissection is underused. Penile cancer treatment may have...

[Relationship between anogenital distance and prognosis of prostate cancer.]
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that a higher prenatal androgen exposure, resulting in a longer AGD, is associated with worse prognosis of PCa. PMID: 30198848 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Archivos Espanoles de Urologia)

Concomitant subcutaneous intravascular lymphoma lesions in a patient with cardiac diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: is intravascular lymphoma a distinct clinical entity?
We describe a patient who presented with large cardiac diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and adrenal masses. The patient also had subcutaneous intravascular lymphoma lesions which were detected by random skin biopsy. Although ambiguous, minimal extravascular location of lymphoma cells is permitted for the diagnosis of intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) in the WHO definition, a number of rare cases have been reported as having concomitant tumours in other organs, such as the adrenal gland, brain, and penis. We assume that IVLBCL might be a peculiar feature of DLBCL characterised by preferential localisati...

The best of both worlds: a hybrid approach for optimal pre- and intraoperative identification of sentinel lymph nodes
ConclusionWith ICG-99mTc-nanocolloid, the SN biopsy procedure has become more accurate and independent of the use of blue dye. With that, the procedure has evolved to be universal for different malignancies and anatomical locations. (Source: European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging)

Oral Kaposi's Sarcoma: Multiple Presentation in an HIV Seropositive Patient
A 38-year-old white man was admitted to a hospital, afflicted by multiple lesions in the oral cavity. The patient was recently diagnosed as HIV seropositive, with a viral load of 440,000 and a CD4 cell count of 146. An oral examination revealed bluish-purple macules and red plaques on hard and soft palates and the tonsillar pillar. He also presented purple macules in the penis, stomach, and larynx. The diagnostic hypothesis was acquired immunodeficiency syndrome-associated Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), and an incisional biopsy was performed in the oral lesions. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and genitourinary cancers: a narrative review.
CONCLUSIONS: Integrated parts of HPV (E6 and E7 fractions) have been previously found in cervical, head and neck, anal and penile cancers. Conversely, although the evidence of concomitant HPV infection, integrated viral genome in cancer cells DNA had never been demonstrated in all the other genito-urinary tract cancers, and its role in the tumor genesis remain still largely debated. This is the reason because HPV infection should be tested in all patients with genito-urinary cancer to better investigate about its potential role in the tumor genesis and development . Moreover HPV infection option should be kept in mind when...

Two novel mutations in the ANTXR2 gene in a Chinese patient suffering from hyaline fibromatosis syndrome: A case report.
Authors: Gao Y, Bai J, Wang J, Liu X Abstract Hyaline fibromatosis syndrome (HFS; MIM 228600) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the abnormal growth of hyalinized fibrous tissue at subcutaneous regions on the scalp, ears and neck. The disease is caused by either a homozygous or compound heterozygous mutation of the anthrax toxin receptor 2 (ANTXR2) gene. The present study describes a patient with HFS confirmed by clinical examination as well as histopathological and genetic analyses. Numerous painless and variable‑sized subcutaneous nodules were observed on the scalp, ear, trunk and...

An unusual presentation of necrobiosis lipoidica on the penis
We present a rare case of necrobiosis lipoidica presenting on the penis, in a patient who had no history of diabetes. A 64-year-old man initially presented to dermatology with a 3-month history of a circular ulcer on the left shin in early 2016. An incisional biopsy from the left shin showed inflammatory features with no conclusive diagnosis. He subsequently developed a nodular lesion on the left abdomen a few months later. Subsequent skin biopsy showed necrobiotic granulomatous process, with features suggestive of necrobiosis lipoidica. (Source: Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology)

Therapeutic efficacy of topical timolol for treatment of African endemic Kaposi sarcoma of the penis
A 42-year-old man from Gambia with a 4-year history of Kaposi sarcoma, likely African endemic, presented with multiple new lesions on the glans penis extending to the shaft. The patient is status post treatment with sirolimus 2 mg po and imiquimod 5% cream as well as local radiation to bilateral hands, arms, and thighs with complete resolution in those regions. A shave biopsy of the largest penile lesion was HHV-8 positive, confirming the diagnosis. African-endemic Kaposi sarcoma is rare in the United States and the literature from equatorial Africa concludes that systemic chemotherapy and local radiation are equally effic...

An 80 year old hermaphroditic with Hugh Brenner tumor: A rare case report and review of literature
ConclusionThe morphological expression of a true hermaphroditism is an “ovotestis” which can be classified into three different categories and require a tissue biopsy for confirmation. The association of a Brenner tumour in a hermaphroditic patient makes this report a significant contribution to human sexual differentiation literature. (Source: African Journal of Urology)

Human papillomavirus genotypes and HPV16 E6/ E7 variants among patients with genital cancers in Vietnam.
This study aimed to evaluate HPV genotypes and HPV16 E6 and E7 (E6/E7) gene variations in Vietnamese patients with genital cancers. Biopsy samples were collected from 124 Vietnamese patients with genital cancers (20 with vaginal, 50 with vulvar, and 54 with penile cancer). The HPV-DNA was amplified and genotyped, and HPV16 E6/E7 genes were compared with those previously reported for women with a normal cervical cytology (N=23). The HPV-DNA was detected in 80.6% (100/124) of the cancer patients (80.0% of vaginal, 82.0% of vulvar, and 79.6% of penile), with HPV16/18 in 86.0% (86/100) and HPV52 in 7.0% (7/100) of the HPV-posi...
