The role of occlusion and micro-incontinence in the pathogenesis of penile lichen sclerosus: an observational study of pro-inflammatory cytokines' gene expression
CONCLUSION: Occlusion and irritating urine effect are associated with the clinical progression of penile LS with increased mRNA expression of IL-1A, INF-γ, and IL-6 pro-inflammatory cytokines in the foreskin.PMID:35103930 | DOI:10.1007/s11255-022-03130-7 (Source: Cancer Control)

Calciphylaxis After Aortic Valve Replacement in a Patient with End-Stage Renal Disease
In this study, we report a case of a patient on dialysis who presented necrotic lesions on the legs and penile ulceration 7 years after a mechanical aortic valve replacement. The diagnosis of calciphylaxis was not confirmed even after skin biopsy, and multidisciplinary management was not initiated until the patient was admitted with septic shock. Cardiovascular surgeons should be aware of warfarin-induced calciphylaxis, whose pathophysiology differs from that of atherosclerosis. Considering poor long-term survival of dialysis patients, mechanical valves should be reserved only for those patients whose estimated survival is...

Image-guided percutaneous cutting needle biopsy in difficult locations
We present the images of nine cases from our archive, in whom we performed image-guided percutaneous cutting needle biopsy (PCNB) for lesions located in larynx, tongue, intestines, stomach, deep pelvis, uterus, pancreas, penis and spleen. For each specific location, we also mention alternative biopsy methods, the indications of PCNB, its potential risks and special techniques to avoid complications. Brachytherapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer to the penis
We present the case of a 61-year-old patient who developed a penile induration 7 years after radical prostatectomy followed by adjuvant external beam radiation therapy for high-risk prostatic adenocarcinoma. Biopsies confirmed the metastatic localization and a detailed assessment failed to find any further remote lesions. Faced with this penile oligometastatic prostate cancer, we proposed an ablative treatment based on interstitial multi-catheter high-dose rate brachytherapy. At the six-month follow-up, clinical examination and 68Ga-PSMA-11-PET confirmed a complete response of the penile tumor without new lesion at a dista...
