Endoscopic transorbital approach in children: surgical technique and early results
CONCLUSIONS: In select cases, the ETOA can be considered a minimally invasive alternative for conventional skull base approaches in the armamentarium of pediatric skull base surgery. Further investigation and the accumulation of experience are warranted in the future to enhance the efficacy and applicability of the ETOA in pediatric patients.PMID:38560935 | DOI:10.3171/2024.1.FOCUS23858 (Source: Neurosurgical Focus)

GSE262547 Effect of knockout of DNAJC12 on gene expression in SH-SY5Y cells [ChIP-seq]
Contributors : Nan Shen ; Yaqi Yang ; Jiejun WenSeries Type : Genome binding/occupancy profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensWe here reported DNAJC12 levels are negatively correlated with the prognosis of children with neuroblastoma and the knockout of DNAJC12 improves cell proliferation and invasion in neuroblastoma cells.DNAJC12 knockout results in increase of intracellular lactic acid and H4K5la modification level. DNAJC12 affects COL1A1 gene transcription by regulating H4K5la modification level and plays an important role in neuroblastoma metastasis. (Source: GEO: Gene Expression Omnibus)

Identification of immune-related signature with prognosis in children with stage 4 and 4S neuroblastoma
ConclusionThe results of the functional enrichment analysis of these identified DEGs suggested that these DEGs may be related to spontaneous regression of NB. In addition, the prognostic signature has the potential to create new risk stratification in patients with NB. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)

Attenuated neuronal differentiation caused by acrylamide is not related to oxidative stress in differentiated human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells
Food Chem Toxicol. 2024 Mar 28:114623. doi: 10.1016/j.fct.2024.114623. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAcrylamide (ACR) is a known neurotoxicant and developmental neurotoxicant. As a soft electrophile, ACR reacts with thiol groups in cysteine. One hypothesis of ACR induced neurotoxicity and developmental neurotoxicity (DNT) is conjugation with reduced glutathione (GSH) leading to GSH depletion, increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and further oxidative stress and cellular damage. In this regard, we have investigated the effect of ACR on neuronal differentiation, glutathione levels and ROS production in the huma...

Clinical and histopathological spectrum of cranial small round cell tumors: An experience from a tertiary care center
CONCLUSIONS: SRCTs have a variable age of presentation. Their incidence in CNS is low as compared to other organ systems. On light microscopy, the histopathology of these lesions is overlapping, posing a great diagnostic dilemma for the pathologist. The use of ancillary techniques like immunohistochemistry helps in arriving at the correct diagnosis. Treatment strategy and tumor prognosis also vary along the entire spectrum of SRCT, thus making exact characterization essential for proper management.PMID:38554327 | DOI:10.4103/jcrt.jcrt_383_22 (Source: Cell Research)

Cytotoxic effect of Rotheca serrata on cancer cell lines MCF-7 and neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y
CONCLUSION: R. serrata possess anticancer activity against breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) and neuroblastoma (SH-SY 5Y) cell lines. This study may to design plant-based drugs without side effects. Dosage compensation for specific type of cancer needs to be monitored in patients with 1st stage.PMID:38554318 | DOI:10.4103/jcrt.jcrt_1325_22 (Source: Cell Research)
