PV-10 is a 10% formulation of rose bengal sodium that has potent immunotherapeutic and anti-cancer activity against various tumors, including metastatic melanoma and refractory neuroblastoma. Currently, PV-10 is undergoing clinical testing for refractory metastatic neuroendocrine cancer and melanomas. However, preclinical investigation of PV-10 activity and its mechanisms against phenotypically and molecularly diverse adult solid tumors had not been conducted. In a panel of human cell lines derived from breast, colorectal, head and neck, and testicular cancers, we demonstrated that PV-10 induces cytotoxicity ...

Correlation of BARD1 gene polymorphisms with risk of neuroblastoma: a meta-analysis
Nucleosides Nucleotides Nucleic Acids. 2024 Apr 15:1-19. doi: 10.1080/15257770.2024.2336215. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBRCA1-associated RING domain protein 1 (BARD1) gene polymorphisms may be associated with neuroblastoma (NB) susceptibility. However, the results remain controversial. Relevant studies were identified by searching PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases up to March 5, 2023. The strength of the association between BARD1 polymorphisms and susceptibility of NB was assessed by calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) through the fixed- or...

Diagnostic value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging in pediatric opsoclonus myoclonus ataxia syndrome presenting with neuroblastoma
ConclusionIn patients with OMAS,18F-FDG PET/CT has a high diagnostic accuracy in detecting tumors of the neuroblastoma, especially when combined with the independent risk factor serum lactate dehydrogenase.Graphical abstract (Source: Pediatric Radiology)

Predictive value of 18 F-FDG PET/CT versus bone marrow biopsy and aspiration in pediatric neuroblastoma
Conclusion18 F-FDG-PET/CT is a valuable method for evaluating BMM in NB. The routine practice of performing a BMBA without discrimination may need to be reassessed. Negative result from 18 F-FDG-PET/CT could potentially spare children with invasive bone marrow biopsies. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Metastasis)

Aqueous humour protein dysregulation in Asian eyes with primary open angle glaucoma
Exp Eye Res. 2024 Apr 10:109887. doi: 10.1016/j.exer.2024.109887. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe pathophysiology of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG) remains poorly understood. Through proteomic analysis of aqueous humour (AH) from POAG patients, we aim to identify changes in protein composition of these samples compared to control samples. High resolution mass spectrometry-based TMT6plex quantitative proteomics analysis is performed on AH samples collected from POAG patients, and compared against a control group of patients with cataracts. Data are available via ProteomeXchange with identifier PXD033153. 1589 proteins...

Bilateral adrenal neuroblastoma: peculiar pattern of a rare pediatric presentation
ConclusionBSN treatment is similar to unilateral disease. A more conservative surgical approach with adrenal tissue preservation on less extensive side should be considered. Biological variables and extent of disease are amongst the most important prognostic determinants. Future studies are warranted to further address the biologic profiling of BSN and highlight prognostic significance of size difference between both adrenal sides. (Source: Hormones and Cancer)
