Implementation of AZD7442 (Tixagevimab/Cilgavimab) COVID-19 Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in the Largest Health Maintenance Organization in Israel: Real-world Uptake and Sociodemographic and Clinical Characteristics Across Immunocompromised Patient Groups
ConclusionThese results show AZD7442 uptake among the eligible population of Israel in 2022 was relatively low, at 14.8%. Uptake was generally higher among immunocompromised individuals who may be perceived to be frail or at highest risk of COVID-19 infection and complications, although at 25 –41%, further improvements in uptake would be more impactful. These results also indicate there is opportunity to expand AZD7442 uptake across immunocompromised groups and ensure more equitable uptake among some other sociodemographic groups. Overall, this study will help inform and reassess futur e implementation strategies for vul...

by Cristina S áez, Israel Pagán All plant viruses were thought to encode in its genome a movement protein that acts as a “passport,” allowing active movement within the host. A new study in PLOS Biology characterizes the first plant virus that can colonize its host without encoding this protein. Epidemiology of tularemia in the countries of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO): A systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionAccording to the results of the present study, tularemia is an endemic but neglected disease in the WHO-EMRO region. However, most studies on tularemia are limited to a few countries in this region. Studies on tularemia in human populations, reservoirs, and vectors have been conducted in all countries in the WHO-EMRO region to obtain more detailed information about the epidemiology of tularemia in these regions. Restore Iran ’s marshes to prevent dust storms | Science
Dust profoundly influences interactions between Earth and the atmosphere, particularly in arid regions (1). Dust storms, which are prevalent in dry, vegetation-free areas, can bury settlements, destroy agriculture, obstruct water infrastructure, cause visibility issues on roads, and substantially affect the environment (2). The Hur al-Azim Marshes, situated along the border of Iran and Iraq, have faced water shortages and pollution, which have increased the threat of dust storms. Iran and neighboring countries should work to restore the marshes to prevent damage caused by dust. (Source: Science: Current Issue)

Patients' Knowledge and Pharmacists' Practice Regarding the Long-Term Side Effects of Proton Pump Inhibitors; a Cross-sectional Study
CONCLUSION: The present study has established that a considerable proportion of PPI users in the UAE lack the necessary awareness about the potential adverse effects of PPI despite their extensive use in this country. The current pharmacist practice is inefficient for inculcating the potential harms of chronic PPI use and they are required to optimize their efforts to educate patients and bridge the knowledge gaps.PMID:38721447 | PMC:PMC11077387 | DOI:10.22037/aaem.v12i1.2305 (Source: Accident and Emergency Nursing)
