Insights into treatment of complex Crohn's  perianal fistulas
AbstractComplex perianal fistula is a common complication of Crohn ’s disease (CD) which leads to negative impact on patient’s quality of life. Successful management of the disease requires a multidisciplinary approach, including a gastroenterologist and a colorectal surgeon, applying combined surgical and medical therapy. One of frequently practiced surgical p rocedures is seton placement in the fistula tract, which is used to control perianal sepsis and drain the fistula, while preventing recurrent abscess formation.Darvadstrocel, a suspension of expanded, allogeneic, adipose-derived, mesenchymal stem cells, is safe ...

The burden of headache disorders in the adult general population of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: estimates from a cross-sectional population-based study including a health-care needs assessment
ConclusionA very high symptom burden is associated with a commensurately high burden of impaired participation. The economic cost appears to be enormous. Over a third of the adult population are revealed to require headache-related health care on the basis of being likely to benefit, demanding highly efficient organization of care. China set to fetch first rocks from mysterious far side of the Moon
There’s a giant hole on the backside of the Moon. The South Pole–Aitken (SPA) Basin, the Moon’s largest and oldest impact crater, is more than 2500 kilometers wide and 8 kilometers deep—nearly big enough to swallow two Indias and hide the Himalayas. Now, China plans to land in it. The basin may have been blasted out during a barrage of asteroids that pummeled Earth and other inner Solar System bodies billions of years ago, and scientists have long wanted to get their hands on SPA rocks to test the idea. The China National Space Administration (CNSA) aims to provide them with the Chang’e-6 mission, which sci...

A Troublesome Complication of Hydatid Cysts; Intra-Abdominal Rupture: A 10-Year Study from a High-Volume Center
CONCLUSION: Hydatid cyst rupture should be considered in cases of acute abdomen, particularly in regions where the disease is endemic, as in our region. The ruptured hydatid cyst was primarily observed in the liver (94.11% of cases).PMID:38654950 | PMC:PMC11033535 | DOI:10.18502/ijpa.v19i1.15199 (Source: Iranian Journal of Parasitology)

Expression of Heat Shock Protein 70 (HSP70) and Astacin Genes of < em > Strongyloides stercoralis < /em > as well as HSP70 and HSP17.1 Genes of < em > S. ratti < /em > in Adult and Larval Stages of < em > S. stercoralis < /em >
CONCLUSION: Higher expression levels of Sst-ast, Sst-hsp-70, and Sra-hsp-70 genes in the larval stages of S. stercoralis suggest the potential role of these enzymes in parasite cutaneous invasion and pathogenesis. However, higher expression of Srahsp-17.1 in adult forms is probably involved in resistance and survival mechanisms. The similarity in gene expression between S. stercoralis and S. ratti can provide helpful hints to better understand strongyloidiasis from various perspectives, including pathogenesis, proper diagnosis, and targeted treatment.PMID:38654956 | PMC:PMC11033530 | DOI:10.18502/ijpa.v19i1.15187 (Source: ...
