Genes, Vol. 15, Pages 499: Proteomic Analysis of Lysine Acetylation and Succinylation to Investigate the Pathogenicity of Virulent Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 and Avirulent Line Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 avrRpm1 on Arabidopsis thaliana
In conclusion, this study provides an insightful profile of the lysine acetylome and succinylome in A. thaliana infected with virulent and avirulent lines of Pst DC3000. Our findings revealed the potential impact of these post-translational modifications (PTMs) on the physiological functions of the host plant during pathogen infection. This study offers valuable insights into the complex interactions between plant pathogens and their hosts, laying the groundwork for future research on disease resistance and pathogenesis mechanisms. Ethical and social implications of public–private partnerships in the context of genomic/big health data collection
In conclusion, this paper offers a set of minimum requirements for these partnerships within solidarity-based publicly funded healthcare systems. These include the necessity of public-private partnerships to (1) contribute to the public benefit and minimise harm produced by the use of publicly held data; (2) avoid prioritisation of commercial interests over robust governance structures to guarantee benefits to the public and protect donors, especially marginalised groups; (3) side-step the pitfalls of the rhetoric of solidarity and be transparent about the challenges to return the benefits to ‘all’. The impact of phospholipids with high transition temperature to enhance Redox-Sensitive liposomal doxorubicin efficacy in colon carcinoma model
In this study, we have developed a redox-sensitive (RS) liposomal doxorubicin formulation by incorporating 10,10'-diselanediylbis decanoic acid (DDA) organoselenium compound as the RS moiety. Hence, several RS liposomal formulations were prepared by using DOPE, HSPC, DDA, mPEG2000-DSPE, and cholesterol. In situ drug loading using a pH gradient and citrate complex yielded high drug to lipid ratio and encapsulation efficiency (100%) for RS liposomes. Liposomal formulations were characterized in terms of size, surface charge and morphology, drug loading, release properties, cell uptake and cytotoxicity, as well as therapeutic...

Recommended approaches for screening and early detection of lung cancer in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region: a consensus statement
CONCLUSIONS: There is a great need for large-scale screening programs, preferably integrated with tobacco-control programs and awareness programs for physicians and patients, which may facilitate higher adherence to lung cancer screening and improve survival outcomes.PMID:38617789 | PMC:PMC11009596 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1568 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

Prevalence and genetic characteristics of  Staphylococcus aureus isolates from cell phones of medical students from Iran
Acta Microbiol Immunol Hung. 2024 Apr 15. doi: 10.1556/030.2024.02193. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlthough mobile phones as a rapid communication vehicle can lead to improved quality of healthcare, they can also facilitate the transmission of pathogens to patients. This current research focuses on genetic diversity, and genes involved in resistance and biofilm production of Staphylococcus aureus isolates from mobile phones of medical students. Antibiotic resistance profiling and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of antibiotic resistance and biofilm-related genes were investigated and statistically analyzed. ...

Group A Streptococcus Carriage in Adults in Southern Israel: A Prospective Study
CONCLUSIONS: Being an ultra-Orthodox Jew was the single variable associated with a GAS carriage, which may be related to having many children at home and living in overcrowded areas. Primary care physicians in Israel should recognize this situation when examining patients with sore throats, mainly ultra-Orthodox Jews.PMID:38616668 (Source: The Israel Medical Association Journal)
