Antibody Drug Conjugates in Urological Cancers: A Review of the Current Landscape
AbstractPurpose of ReviewOur review delves into the progress across urological malignancies and discusses ongoing challenges and future directions in antibody –drug conjugate (ADC) development, emphasising their transformative potential in cancer care.Recent FindingsADCs have advanced from hematologic to solid tumours, notably in breast cancer, and are now pivotal in metastatic urological cancers as both monotherapies and in combination regimens, underscored by the FDA ’s approval of enfortumab vedotin and sacituzumab govitecan for metastatic urothelial cancer. Progress in metastatic prostate cancer, particularly with ...

Early kinetics of C-reactive protein as prognosticator for survival in a real-world cohort of patients with metastatic renal cell cancer under first-line therapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors
ConclusionsThe present study emphasizes the prognostic potential of early CRP kinetics in CPI-treated mRCC. As a standard laboratory parameter, CRP can be easily implemented into clinical routine to facilitate therapy monitoring. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)

Systematic review of the efficacy of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy for oligoprogressive disease in metastatic cancer
CONCLUSIONS: SABR appears to have clinical benefit in oligoprogresssive prostate, lung, and renal patients. However, the optimal management of patients with oligoprogressive disease is still somewhat uncertain due to lack of prospective data. This will hopefully become clearer in the near future with the publication of further randomised trials.PMID:38648995 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2024.110288 (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology : journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)

Comprehensive Analysis of N6-Methylandenosine-Related lncRNAs in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Correlation With Prognosis, Tumor Progression, and Therapeutic Response
This study aims to develop a prognostic signature based on m6A-related lncRNAs for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Differential expression analysis and Pearson correlation analysis were used to identify m6A-related lncRNAs associated with patient outcomes in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Our approach led to the development of an m6A-related lncRNA risk score (MRLrisk), formulated using six identified lncRNAs: NFE4, AL008729.2, AL139123.1, LINC02154, AC124854.1 and ARHGAP31-AS1. Higher MRLrisk was identified as a risk factor for patients' prognosis in ccRCC. Furthermore, an MRLrisk-based nomogram was dev...

An underrecognized association: immune checkpoint inhibitor-related aortitis, a case report with the review of the literature
AbstractImmune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are considered as the novel treatment modality in certain cancers. They may soon be used widely even as the first-line option for cancer treatment due to their remarkable efficacies and impacts on survival rates, particularly in cases of advanced metastatic cancer. Of note, these agents might unveil new autoimmune diseases as well as causing flare-ups of a pre-existing autoimmune disease. Data in this field have been accumulated during recent years. Early detection and a collaborative approach are, therefore, crucial in the management of a patient who presents with any of these c...

Preoperative risk calculator for the probability of completing nephron sparing for kidney cancer
CONCLUSIONS: The probability of PN completion can be preoperatively assessed, with optimal accuracy relaying on routinely available clinical information. The proposed model might be useful in preoperative decision-making, patient consensus, or during preoperative counselling.PATIENT SUMMARY: In patients with a renal mass the probability of completing a partial nephrectomy varies considerably and without a predictive model is invariably inaccurate and subjective. In this study we build-up a risk calculator based on easily available preoperative variables that can predict with optimal accuracy the probability of not removing...

Protein intake and cancer: an umbrella review of systematic reviews for the evidence-based guideline of the German Nutrition Society
ConclusionThe present findings suggest that higher total protein intake may not be associated with the risk of colorectal and breast cancer, while conclusions on protein intake in relation to risks of other types of cancer are restricted due toinsufficient evidence.
