Exploring the impact of evaluation on learning and health innovation sustainability: protocol for a realist synthesis
DiscussionThe use of a realist review will allow for exploration and theorizing about the contextual factors and underlying mechanisms that make evaluations ‘work’ (or ‘not work’) to support learning and sustainability. Depending on results, we will attempt to synthesize findings into a series of recommendations for evaluations with the intention to support health systems learning and sustainability. Finalized results will be presented at nation al and international conferences, as well as disseminated via a peer-reviewed publication.Systematic review registrationThis realist synthesis protocol has been registered ...

Factors influencing emotional support of older adults living in the community: a scoping review protocol
DiscussionThis scoping review may identify factors that could be modified or mitigated to improve emotional support provision for older adults residing in community. The knowledge will inform the development of tailored interventions directed to older adults and their caregivers.Systematic review registrationhttps://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/4TAEB (associated project link: osf.io/6y48t). Patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments used in patients undergoing adoptive cell therapy (ACT) for the treatment of cancer: a systematic review
DiscussionNone of the PROs identified have been designed specifically for ACT. Appropriateness of existing instruments should be considered. It should be considered whether it is appropriate to collect data more frequently in the acute stage and then less frequently during follow-up. It should be considered if one tool is suitable at all time points or if the tool should be adapted depending on time since treatment. More research is needed to identify the exact timings of PRO assessments, and qualitative work with patients is needed to determine the most important issues for them throughout the treatment and follow-up. (So...

Identity development, attraction, and behaviour of heterosexually identified men who have sex with men: scoping review protocol
DiscussionThis is the first known knowledge synthesis on H-MSM, seeking to better understand sexual identity-behaviour discordance amongst cisgender men. We anticipate that a theoretical framework of H-MSM ’s sexuality, internal processes, and behaviours will be constructed from this review. Alongside implications for further research with H-MSM, this review may be relevant to sexually transmitted infection public health and to clinicians working in the field of male sexuality.Systematic review registrationOpen Science Framework:https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/MVY9H (Source: Systematic Reviews)

Saturated fat, the estimated absolute risk and certainty of risk for mortality and major cancer and cardiometabolic outcomes: an overview of systematic reviews
ConclusionSystematic reviews investigating the impact of SFA on mortality and major cancer and cardiometabolic outcomes almost universally suggest very small absolute changes in risk, and the data is based primarily on low and very low certainty evidence.Systematic review registrationPROSPERO CRD42020172141 (Source: Systematic Reviews)

Systematic scoping review protocol of Stroke Patient and Stakeholder Engagement (SPSE)
AbstractThis protocol describes a systematic scoping review of Stroke Patient and Stakeholder Engagement (SPSE), concepts, definitions, models, implementation strategies, indicators, or frameworks. The active engagement of patients and other stakeholders is increasingly acknowledged as essential to patient-centered research to answer questions of importance to patients and their caregivers. Stroke is a debilitating, long-lasting burden for individuals, their families, and healthcare professionals. They require rehabilitation services, health care system assistance, and social support. Their difficulties are unique and requ...

Prospective longitudinal associations between adverse childhood experiences and adult mental health outcomes: a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis
DiscussionThis review will contribute to the existing body of literature supporting the long-term effects of ACEs on adult mental health. This review adds to previous reviews that have either synthesised cross-sectional associations between ACEs and mental health outcomes, synthesised longitudinal studies exploring the effect of ACEs on different physical and mental health outcomes or synthesised longitudinal studies exploring the effect of ACEs on the same mental health outcomes using different methods. This review aims to identify methodological weaknesses and knowledge gaps in current literature that can be addressed in...

Gestational diabetes mellitus, follow-up of future maternal risk of cardiovascular disease and the use of eHealth technologies —a scoping review
ConclusionsThis scoping review of the existing literature revealed neither an established systematic cardiovascular follow-up strategy for women after gestational diabetes nor evidence that eHealth technologies are superior to conventional follow-up. Further research into the utility of eHealth in cardiovascular follow-up after complicated pregnancies should include longer-term follow-up and core cardiovascular outcomes.Systematic review registrationThe protocol for this scoping review was published at Open Science Framework (osf.io/p5hw6) (Source: Systematic Reviews)

Conflict of interest and risk of bias in systematic reviews on methylphenidate for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder: a cross-sectional study
ConclusionFinancial conflict of interest was underreported in 18% of the SRs using our reference standard, and overall it was present for every second SR. This group embraced both SRs at low RoB disclosing conflict of interest and SRs at high RoB not disclosing their conflict of interest. Further studies to explore this heterogeneity are warranted.
