Burden of neglected tropical diseases and access to medicine and diagnostics in Ethiopia: a scoping review
ConclusionsThe scoping review identified a considerable number of studies on the burden of NTDs in Ethiopia and strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and/or care; however, there is a paucity of evidence on the suitability and potential benefits of novel diagnostic technologies and medicines in the country. A regular review and analysis of such country-level evidence is important to inform the country NTDs roadmap and local implementation strategies. (Source: Systematic Reviews)

The experiences and barriers in addressing type 2 diabetes mellitus-associated erectile dysfunction: a mixed method systematic review
DiscussionMany men kept quiet about their struggles with T2DMED, hoping to bring it up as a topic of discussion during healthcare consultations. Barriers such as embarrassment, a sense of helplessness and reluctance to seek help, financial constraints, and dismissive healthcare professionals hindered them from addressing this issue. Both the participating men and healthcare professionals lacked a comprehensive understanding of T2DMED.RecommendationsIt is important to provide education tailored to men's specific needs and improve awareness about T2DM-associated ED. Creating a more T2DMED-friendly environment could be a pote...

The impact of COVID-19 on clinical outcomes in people undergoing neurosurgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionCompared to the pre-pandemic group, the number who died was significantly increased in the COVID-19 pandemic group. Meanwhile, the effect of the pandemic on clinical outcomes in people undergoing neurosurgery might differ in different regions, according to our subgroup analysis. (Source: Systematic Reviews)

Mapping the effectiveness of the community tuberculosis care programs: a systematic review
ConclusionsThis review illustrates that community-based TB interventions such as electronic medication monitors, community health worker direct observation therapy, family directly observed treatment, and short message service can substantially bolster efficiency and convenience for patients and providers while reducing health system costs and improving clinical outcomes. Patient-relevant outcomes following elective, aseptic revision knee arthroplasty: a systematic review
ConclusionHigher-quality evidence is needed to support patients with decision-making in elective, aseptic rKA. This should include studies comparing operative and non-operative management. Implant survivorship following elective, aseptic rKA was ~  96% at 1 year, ~ 91% at 5 years and ~ 87% at 10 years. Early complications were common after elective, aseptic rKA and the rates summarised here can be shared with patients during informed consent.Systematic review registrationPROSPERO CRD42020196922 (Source: Systematic Reviews)

Exploring the contribution of case study research to the evidence base for occupational therapy: a scoping review
ConclusionsCase study research is useful when large-scale inquiry is not appropriate; for cases of complexity, early intervention efficacy, theory testing or when small participant numbers are available. It appears a viable methodology to contribute to the evidence base for occupation and health as it has been used to evaluate interventions across a breadth of occupational therapy practice contexts. Viability could be enhanced through consistent conduct and reporting to allow pooling of case data. A conceptual model and description of case study research in occupational therapy is proposed to support this.Systematic review...

Clinical utility of overviews on adverse events of pharmacological interventions
ConclusionsOverviews on drug-related AEs are considered valuable for clinical practice by clinicians. They can make available evidence on AEs more accessible and provide a comprehensive view of available evidence. As the role of overviews evolves, investigations such as this can identify areas of value. (Source: Systematic Reviews)

Protocol for a systematic literature review of smartphone apps to support the self-management of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases: development strategies, theoretical underpinnings and barriers to engagement
DiscussionThe results of this systematic literature review will provide insights for healthcare professionals, researchers, app designers and policy makers, to inform future development and implementation of smartphone apps to support self-management of RMDs. Evidence gaps for future research will be identified. Findings will be disseminated through a final manuscript/publication of results and via a conference abstract, patient organisations and social media.Systematic review registrationPROSPERO CRD42022359704. Speech therapy for transgender women: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThe type of vocal sample collected influences the gain result of the fundamental frequency after treatment. Speech therapy and phonosurgery increased the fundamental frequency and improved female voice perception and vocal satisfaction. However, phonosurgery yielded a greater fundamental frequency gain in the different samples collected. The study protocol was registered at Prospero (CRD42017078446). (Source: Systematic Reviews)
