Primitive myxoid mesenchymal tumor of infancy, an enigmatic entity: A case report
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2024 Feb 19. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_471_23. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPrimitive myxoid mesenchymal tumor of infancy (PMMTI) is a rare soft tissue neoplasm of intermediate malignant potential occurring predominantly in infants and younger children. It can show aggressive local infiltration of surrounding structures and frequent relapses but rare metastasis. Morphologically, it is characterized by a proliferation of immature mesenchymal cells in a myxoid background with mild cytologic atypia and branching vessels. The tumor cells demonstrate immunoreactivity with vimentin and BCOR, however, are...

The Effect of Photodynamic Therapy Using 5-Aminolevulinic Acid in Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Cells
CONCLUSION: 5-ALA PDT effectively inhibited proliferation of bone and soft tissue sarcoma cell lines. Further in vivo research using other subtypes of bone and soft tissue sarcoma is warranted to confirm the applicability in the clinical setting.PMID:38423650 | DOI:10.21873/anticanres.16891 (Source: Cell Research)

Paediatric fibrosarcoma treatment
CONCLUSION: The involvement of the vascular surgeon in performing the tumour resection permitted the preservation of the best circulation to the extremity, thereby, avoiding amputation. The difficult decision made by the reconstructive surgeon to place a partial thickness graft over the surgical site, and to start radiotherapy/chemotherapy by paediatric oncology, were key to the success in achieving the patient's satisfactory progress.PMID:38414962 | PMC:PMC10898908 | DOI:10.3332/ecancer.2023.1608 (Source: Ecancermedicalscience)

GSE256010 An endogenous retrovirus regulates tumor-specific expression of the immune transcriptional regulator SP140 [CUT & RUN]
Contributors : Adam K Dziulko ; Holly Allen ; Edward B ChuongSeries Type : Genome binding/occupancy profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensSpeckled Protein 140 (SP140) is a chromatin reader with critical roles regulating immune cell transcriptional programs, and SP140 splice variants are associated with immune diseases including Crohn ’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. SP140 expression is currently thought to be restricted to immune cells. However, by analyzing human transcriptomic datasets from a wide range of normal and cancer cell types, we found recurrent cancer-...

Radiolabeled florescent-magnetic graphene oxide nanosheets: probing the biodistribution of a potential PET-MRI hybrid imaging agent for detection of fibrosarcoma tumor
ConclusionMagnetic (Fe3O4) and fluorescent components (CdTe QDs) along with a positron-emitting radionuclide will help to design a multimodal imaging system (PET/MRI/OI) which will offer the advantages of combined imaging techniques and further possible used in localized radionuclide therapy. Overall, [68Ga] Ga-GO@Fe3O4-cys-CdTe QDs nanocomposite shows great promise as a radiolabeled imaging agent owing to high accumulation in tumor region. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Small cell osteosarcoma versus fusion-driven round cell sarcomas of bone: retrospective clinical, radiological, pathological, and (epi)genetic comparison with clinical implications
In conclusion, discrimination of SCOS, epigenetically related to COS, versus FDRCS of bone can be challenging but is important due to different biology and therefore therapeutic strategies. Methylation profiling is a reliable and robust diagnostic test especially on decalcified FFPE material. Subsequent fusion gene analysis and/or use of specific immunohistochemical surrogate markers can be used to substantiate the diagnosis. (Source: Virchows Archiv)

Imaging characterization of paediatric tumours with the neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase fusion transcript
CONCLUSION: Paediatric NTRK-FT tumours mainly occur in infants with very variable histotypes and locations. Rich and irregular intra-tumoural vascularization are recurrent findings.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Apart from IFS of soft tissues and cCMN of the kidneys, others NTRK-FT tumours locations have to be known, as CNS tumours. Better knowledge of the imaging characteristics may help guide the pathological and biological identification.PMID:38327010 | DOI:10.1093/bjr/tqae016 (Source: The British Journal of Radiology)

Combining nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel with camrelizumab in advanced soft tissue sarcoma: activity, safety, and future perspectives
Conclusion: Nab-paclitaxel plus camrelizumab exhibited modest activity and mild toxicity in treating epithelioid sarcoma, angiosarcoma, and fibrosarcoma. The overall effectiveness of this treatment regimen for advanced STS is relatively low. Further research on combining nab-paclitaxel with effective drugs, including chemotherapy and targeted agents, for these specific STS subtypes is needed. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)
