Stepwise implementation of an enhanced recovery pathway for elective total hip arthroplasty in a Swiss hospital: a cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Almost all parameters examined in this study showed improvement, whereas the rate of adverse events was not affected and remained low. The presented data can be used as a benchmark, but details of these findings need to be confirmed in larger cohorts.PMID:38579311 | DOI:10.57187/s.3537 (Source: Swiss Medical Weekly)

Comparison of cystectomy and lobectomy of lung hydatid cyst in pediatrics: a retrospective study
CONCLUSION: The complications and outcome of the cystectomy are comparable to the lobectomy technique. However, the cystectomy method has the advantage of preserving the lung tissue, therefore it's a favourable technique in endemic areas for hydatid cysts where reoperation may be indicated.PMID:38576968 | PMC:PMC10990369 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001823 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

"The Prognostic Role of Aspartate Transaminase to Platelet Ratio Index (APRI) on Outcomes Following Non-emergent Minor Hepatectomy"
CONCLUSIONS: APRI ≥0.7 is associated with perioperative transfusion, overall morbidity, and 30-day mortality. APRI may serve as a noninvasive tool to risk stratify patients prior to elective minor hepatectomy.PMID:38579287 | DOI:10.1177/00031348241244645 (Source: The American Surgeon)
