Homotherapy for heteropathy: Interleukin-41 and its biological functions
Immunology. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.1111/imm.13791. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInterleukin-41 (IL-41) is a newly discovered cytokine, named Cometin, Subfatin, meteorin-like transcription (Metrnl), and so forth. It is widely expressed in animals and can exert its biological roles through autocrine and paracrine forms. It has functions such as anti-inflammatory, improving body metabolism, regulating immunity, regulating fat metabolism and participates in the process of autoimmune disease or inflammatory injury. It plays an important role in psoriasis, diabetes, Crohn's disease (CD), osteoarthritis, Kawasaki disease (KD), Grav...

Low C4A copy numbers and higher HERV gene insertion contributes to increased risk of SLE, with absence of association with disease phenotype and disease activity
In conclusion, our data show that, lowC4A copy number and higher insertion ofHERV-K inC4A increases the risk for SLE.C4 andC4-HERV CNs did not correlate with serum complements, autoantibodies, disease phenotypes and activity in SLE. Further validation in a larger homogenous SLE cohort is needed. (Source: Immunologic Research)

Personalized treatment concepts in extraocular cancer
CONCLUSIONS: The optimal treatment for periocular skin cancer depends on the type and size of the tumor and whether it involves orbital and adnexal structures. Adjuvant and neoadjuvant therapy with chemotherapy-targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors should be considered based on tumor type, tumor molecular profile, expected response rate, and candidacy for systemic treatment.PMID:38590555 | PMC:PMC10999489 | DOI:10.1016/j.aopr.2024.02.003 (Source: Cell Research)
