When Should I Get My Next COVID Vaccine? Data from the SUrveillance of responses to COVID-19 vaCcines in systEmic immunE mediated inflammatory Diseases (SUCCEED)study
CONCLUSION: Ours is the first pan-Canadian IMID assessment of how vaccine history and other factors affect serologic COVID-19 vaccine responses. These findings may help individuals personalize vaccination decisions, including consideration of additional vaccination when >6 months has elapsed since last COVID vaccination/infection.PMID:38621797 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2023-1214 (Source: J Rheumatol)

Exploring the Link Between Ankylosing Spondylitis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: AS patients exhibit a markedly increased risk of developing IBD. These findings advocate for heightened clinical vigilance for IBD symptoms in AS patients and suggest the need for a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Further research into the shared pathogenic pathways is needed to develop personalized treatment strategies and improve patient management.PMID:38616667 (Source: The Israel Medical Association Journal)

ASDAS-CRP and ASDAS-ESR cut-offs for disease activity states in axial spondyloarthritis - Are they interchangeable?
CONCLUSION: We estimated the optimal ASDAS-ESR values corresponding to the established ASDAS-CRP cut-off values. However, applying the estimated cut-offs did not increase the level of agreement between ASDAS-ESR and ASDAS-CRP disease activity states to a relevant degree. Our findings did not provide evidence to reject the established cut-off values for ASDAS-ESR.PMID:38621792 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2023-1217 (Source: Journal of Rheumatology)

Identification and bioinformatics analysis of lncRNAs in serum of patients with ankylosing spondylitis
The aim of this study was to explore the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression profiles in serum of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The role of these lncRNAs in this complex autoimmune situation n... (Source: BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders)

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis in a patient with ankylosing spondylitis: A case report
Key Clinical MessageAlthough the concurrent occurrence of vasculitis with AS is uncommon, when patients diagnosed with AS exhibit symptoms including skin petechiae, purpura, abdominal discomfort, malaise, elevated ESR, and reduced complement levels, vigilant monitoring for vasculitis is advisable following the exclusion of secondary vasculitis triggers such as malignancies, infections, and pharmaceutical agents.AbstractThe primary characteristic of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) involves inflammation occurring within the sacroiliac joint and the spine, leading to destruction and eventual ankylosis. A notably infrequent compli...

Comparison of the effect of treatment with NSAIDs added to anti-TNF therapy versus anti-TNF therapy alone on the progression of structural damage in the spine over 2 years in patients with radiographic axial spondyloarthritis from the randomised-controlled CONSUL trial
Conclusions Combination therapy with GOL+CEL did not demonstrate statistically significant superiority over GOL monotherapy in retarding radiographic spinal progression over 2 years in r-axSpA. (Source: Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases)
