Diagnosis and Treatment of Adrenocortical Oncocytoma: Case Report of Five Cases and Review of the Literature

Conclusions: The diagnosis of adrenocortical oncocytoma mainly depends on the pathological examination. Surgical resection is the main treatment method. Introduction The oncocytic adrenocortical neoplasm is a rare tumor of the adrenal gland. Since it was first reported in 1986 (1), there has been serial case reports to try to illuminate this rare tumor. However, there is still rather little information available, especially the pathological and follow-up data, to illustrate the biological behavior of this particular tumor. The origin, biological behavior, diagnostic criteria, and prognosis of oncocytic adrenocortical neoplasm remain controversial. Here, we report 5 cases with oncocytic adrenocortical neoplasm and try to summarize its clinical and pathological manifestations, diagnostic criteria, surgical treatment, and prognosis. Written informed consent was obtained from the participant for the publication of this case report and any potentially-identifying information/images. Materials and Methods The demographic and clinical data of 5 patients with oncocytic adrenocortical neoplasms, diagnosed and surgical treated at the department of urology in Peking Union College Hospital, between April 2005 and July 2018, were retrospectively analyzed. As showed in Table 1, there were 1 male and 4 females. The age ranged from 17 to 63 y. Only one patient found the tumor incidentally during the healthy examination, 2 cases discovered the tumor during body check for none speci...

The hierarchical structure has three layers, a data layer that is modeled with a generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution, a latent Gaussian process layer that relates parameters of GEV to covariates and the unobserved heterogeneity, and a prior layer with prior distributions to characterize the latent process. The propos...

The synthesized powder is characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) which confirms the formation of HAp. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) shows highly porous agglomerated HAp powder with average pore diameter of 276.3 nm. EDAX analysis reveals calcium and phosphate ratio (Ca/P) of 1.74 showing close res...

DeoghareAbstractIn the present research, hydroxyapatite (HAp) is derived from fish scales which are discarded as waste material. Scales of Labeo rohita fish has been calcined at 1000°C after acid treatment for HAp synthesis. The calcined powder is characterized using FTIR and XRD that confirms the formation of HAp. TGA shows the HAp is thermally stable between 800-900°C. SEM analysis reveals highly porous morphology of the derived HAp confirming its application in the development ...

ManjubalaAbstractFailure of implants is a serious concern in the orthopedic field, due to loosening of the parts or biofilm formation. This leads to secondary surgery increasing the cost for the patients. The analysis of the ability of the implants to be resistant to infection or susceptible to biofilm growth before implantation could minimize this issue. The aim of this study is to investigate the ability to form biofilm on composite scaffolds, made up of polymer and calcium phosphat...
