Should a reapplicant's school list include mostly schools he/she hadn't applied to before?
Last cycle, I applied to 17 schools as CA ORM -- Harvard, Hopkins, Stanford, Penn, Columbia, NYU, Yale, Cornell, Mt. Sinai, UCSF, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, USC, Brown, Vanderbilt, and Mayo. This resulted in 5 IIs and 4 WLs. From a thread posted previously, I deduced that it was probably my interview performance. My family moved to a different state during the pandemic, and I will likely apply as a resident of that state. I am wondering if my new school list should mostly include new schools as... Harvard vs Hopkins vs Yale vs UCLA vs WashU
Hello and apologies in advance for this late night indecisive post. I’m having a really tough time deciding on a school and would appreciate any advice! Harvard Pros: it’s Harvard. A dream school of mine since forever. Heard it can “open doors” and such. I loved the sense of community in their LMSA and there’s a lot about their program I’m really into. I’ve never been to Boston, but based on what I’ve learned I think I’d really like it. I also like the 1 year preclinical a lot, I’m... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hopkins vs. Yale vs. UCSF vs. Columbia
Hi everyone! I'm super lucky to be making this decision. I would love some advice/help! Please do not quote my post because of personal details! Hopkins Pros -Amazing clinical training and facilities -Can't beat the name recognition/prestige of Hopkins -Fantastic match list (but I think there may have been some issues this year) -I like the mentorship/CAP system Cons -Baltimore -Reputation of people being competitive? -Will be more expensive than some of the other options (see price... Yale vs Duke vs Wake Forest vs Maryland vs Michigan
I would really appreciate any help on this decision. I'm sorry this is long, but I'm super indecisive. Yale Pros Great Reputation with a really good match list Good Research opportunities with stellar faculty and interesting electives and opportunities P/F with low pressure exams and optional quizzing (may also have p/f clinical) Not far from my parents Cons Didn't qualify for good financial aid package so COA super high Far from SO Not... IU v Yale
obviously IU is in-state and Yale is, well, Yale. I ask because I do not qualify for any significant financial aid so would have to take loans. Additionally, I have hard that IU also has a very good reputation, while not comparably entirely to an Ivy, is competitive. curious as to whether going to Yale would significantly alter my career path moving forward. goal is to get into a competitive specialty in California some day. Vanderbilt (scholarship) vs. Hopkins (and Pritzker or Yale)
I’m incredibly fortunate to be in the position to be choosing between several amazing options and was hoping to get some second opinions. For background, I attended Vanderbilt for undergrad and am interested in pursuing a surgical specialty (Ortho, Uro, maybe ENT), most likely in private practice. I’m mainly considering Vanderbilt and Hopkins, but Pritzker and Yale are also options so if anyone has thoughts on those two, that would be appreciated as well! Vanderbilt + 75% tuition... Vanderbilt (Full COA) vs. Mayo/Yale/WashU
Vandy is full COA. The other three are ~tuition. The difference is about $100K. If this changes anyone's perspective, I will be able to cover the difference with my own savings, so all options are loan-free. They are my savings, from 7 years of work, so it doesn't feel like small change to me. Besides the normal considerations of cost, location, prestige, etc - I am most concerned about going somewhere with a good mentorship program. I have zero research experience and zero formal... Mayo Az vs Yale
Hi all, I am thankful to be debating between these top choice schools of mine, and would appreciate any input you may have. Mayo Pros: - 30k / year scholarship - Phoenix is much closer to my home/family than New Haven - higher rank - better weather - selectives seems really cool Mayo Cons: - I have heard clinical grading is pretty tough (would appreciate it if others would be able to speak on this) - hospital is far away from med school and involves a drive - With the Az campus... WashU vs. Yale (LOI)
Hi y’all, I am hoping to get some advice on whether I should send a LOI to Yale (interviewed early January, non-rolling) or WashU (interviewed early December, rolling). I appreciate any insights or suggestions y’all might have on this. A brief comparison: Yale Pros Yale system, no shelf exams, no AOA prestige? (unsure) faculty seem to care about students quite a lot and students seem happy there east coast research thesis Cons ... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lawyer thinking about MD: any structural issues with medicine I should be concerned about?
I’ve been working at a large law firm after graduating from a “top” law school (one of Harvard/Stanford/Yale). I originally wanted to go to law school because I really love learning how complicated systems work and was hoping that gaining specialized knowledge of the legal system would allow me to make positive difference in people’s lives. In practice, I came to feel that (a) the vast majority of the “positive differences” you can make as a lawyer are much more symbolic than practical and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Columbia vs. Yale vs Upenn
Currently working on my ROL and I wanted an opinion on pros and cons for the following programs: Columbia vs UPenn vs Yale Caveat, I am very interested in academia (research, leadership) in addition to strong clinical training. Would you consider these programs overall equal caliber and it’s just location to decide? Thanks again (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Residencies in the Northeast
Hello, I wanted to get some feedback on a few programs in the Northeast from recent externs/residents/graduates. I'm interested in gaining some more info on Yale New Haven, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Lenox Hill, NYP Queens, Medstar, and DVA Maryland/RIAO. I know some of these have been mentioned or briefly reviewed in other posts, but none of them were too recent. Thanks in advance for your constructive feedback! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Psych residency: Yale vs. UW
Hey everyone, I’ve been a long time creeper... but made an account to post and get some insight w my rank list and interview process. I really liked Yale ans UW so far. I have Stanford coming up which will also be a big contender for me as I see it like a Yale of the west coast— I will update my thoughts then but for now hoping to get some input on UW vs Yale. For reference I am Asian American and single. Yale +humanities slant- i was a humanities minor in college and have always had an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
