How much is P/F worth? Yale/UCSF/Emory vs UT Southwestern/Einstein
Hi y'all! I am still trying to narrow down a few options (not all listed here), BUT I wanted to gauge, in general, how much having P/F pre-clinical AND clinical is worth when compared to scholarships. Essentially, I have a full COA scholarship from UT Southwestern and a full tuition Einstein scholarship (thanks, Ruth). I was also accepted to Yale, UCSF, and Emory, which all have pass/fail for all 4 years. I haven't heard back in terms of financial aid, so a lot could change, but in... Umich vs Yale vs WashU...But for Family Medicine (Maybe UPenn)
Hi All, I am looking for advice as my spouse and I are moving to wherever they are going to med school- yay! In terms of future career plans, my partner is set on doing Family Medicine. They are very, very keen on opening up a free or highly reduced-cost clinic in the future. Eventually, they plan to go into politics because this country's healthcare system sucks and it needs to change. Unfortunately, because of that, prestige of the institution probably does matter. I currently... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cornell vs. Yale vs. Northwestern
Hi Everyone! I'm extremely grateful to have the opportunity to choose between these schools and would appreciate any and all advice. A little bit about me: I come from a low-income, first-gen, immigrant parent background (Latin America), so finances and being at a diverse school/city are extremely important to me. Interested in pursing neurosurgery (significant personal/scientific experiences) and academic medicine. Neurology if I decide surgery isn't for me lol. I'm also especially... LSU NOLA vs Yale/Hopkins
Not specific to Yale/Hopkins, but really don't know how to weigh LSU against the other schools I've gotten into. LSU NOLA Pros: 100% tuition Medium COL - strong family and friend support system - I grew up in the GNO area Lots of connections at the medical school between LSU and Tulane so the nepotism would really help with research and other opportunities Cons: Worried matching out of Louisiana will be hard for residency, interested in competitive... Harvard vs Stanford vs Duke vs Yale vs Columbia vs WashU (full tuition) vs Mayo MN/Northwestern/UChicago (all full tuition/full CoA?)
Hey guys! First of all, major shoutout to everyone I DM'd before starting this process (@LizzyM @I'mInDer! @BrokenLlamas and more), you all were super helpful and I wouldn't have gotten to this point in the process without all you guys, so thanks again! Also I was looking back at some past VS posts and noticed a ton of overlap between my options and this post, so thank you @premedasaurus for this post format! Future career goals: Likely want to stay in the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Hi everyone, I received 10 IIs this cycle which have turned into 4 WLs so far (UVA [in-state], UCSD, Cornell, Yale [with a letter of intent btw]) and I'm expecting 2 more shortly as I've missed all their A waves (VCU [in-state], Mt. Sinai). I have a few more decisions coming out but based on these results I'm expecting just R's and WL's (especially with 2/4 of them being T5s; one other is a T20 and the last is a mid-tier). I don't get what I'm doing wrong - I think I had a strong... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Career in Critical care Medicine in Tier 1 academic places!
Hi everyone! I matched into a Tier 3-4 critical care fellowship program and I am wondering what are the pros and cons of working in Tier 1 academic centers anywhere in the USA. I am have been told that s/p fellowship, working in a place like Columbia/NYU/Yale/UPenn will likely offered significantly lower salary(I am told lower and I 'm not sure how lower it is either). My question is what are the other tangible downsides of working in a places like that? or more clearly is there any upsides... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rank List Hello! Im feeling a bit overwhelmed so I’m looking for advice on my rank list. Job prospects for low tier fellowship
Hi everyone, I matched hematology/oncology at a hybrid community-academic program that is not well known and far away from my desired region (but has a good reputation in my region). My ultimate goal is to practice in California due to family reasons. My question is: will I be able to make it back to Califronia? Just scrolling the names of attendings in major californian heme/onc private practices I see alot of fancy names (e.g. Yale, DFCI, UCSF) and the like. I am worried with low name... Should I add more schools at this point?
I’ve been pretty behind this cycle, and I’m just finishing up submitting all my secondaries. The submission dates have been between 8/22 and today. I’ve been freaking out a little (too much time on SDN and Reddit…) that my school list is too top heavy, especially with my late submissions. I added Einstein, Rochester, and NYMC to AMCAS last night in my anxiety spiral as some more mid-tiers because they have relatively easy secondaries. I got an II from Yale this morning (my first of the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
