Yale vs Mt Sinai (MD only)
Hi everyone, I recently got off the waitlist at Yale, and I’m having a really tough time making a decision as to which medical school to go with. Up until yesterday, I was very content with going to Mt Sinai and had no reservations about the program or about living in NYC. But now that I’ve been accepted to Yale, I feel like it would be such a waste to throw away that opportunity! Here are my current thoughts: I would love to experience living in a big city with a diverse patient... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Telepsychiatry gigs in 2023
What's a reasonable rate for 100% telepsychiatry jobs these days and workload? I've looked at Cerebral, Talkiatry, Iris and one other that covers mostly ED work. Seems like $150 to $200 / hr is what's floating around, some offer benefits if full-time. They seem to keep you busy. I know this has been brought up in the past but couldn't find a recent thread to reflect current offers. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Penn vs. Yale (formerly vs. Columbia vs. NYU)
Background: -Thanks to outside scholarships and generous aid, cost is about the same at each school. -I have lived in NYC my whole life and have been in New Haven the past few years doing research, so I am very familiar with both areas and what it’s like to live there. -Fiance and dog coming along with me; dog is energetic and needs to be walked quite a bit (>5 miles throughout the day); not willing to abandon either. Priorities: -Housing options beyond on-campus options. Kind... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Yale vs. Hopkins
Please do not quote this message. Hi all, After much reflection, my decision has been narrowed down to these two wonderful schools. There is clearly no wrong choice, so I keep going back and forth and just can't seem to make a decision. I would love your insight on my thought process. A bit about me: My goal is to match back in California for residency. I am currently interested in neurology and ophthalmology, but could see myself going into internal medicine. Over the past few years, I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UChicago Pritzker (half-tuition) vs Yale (no aid) with a Canadian twist
Hi all! I've been blessed to have received multiple offers from some really amazing schools this cycle and I've narrowed it down to these two: UChicago and Yale. I was also accepted at Boston University and UVA, but neither gave me any aid so they are probably off of the table. To give you a bit of context about my priorities and aspirations, I have a strong feeling I want to pursue academic medicine and potentially competitive specialties like CT surgery. I also have a pretty strong... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Vanderbilt vs UPenn vs Yale (WL)
Hey all! Posting (again ) after hearing back from some more schools. I am now deciding between Vanderbilt, UPenn, and Yale (WL). I am interested in psychiatry and am excited about research, community health, the environment, and the humanities. My thoughts are below, thanks for any advice! Vanderbilt Pros +++Amazing sense of community. I have really loved my conversations with every student who I talked to. They have been kind, driven, brilliant, and just easy to... Hopkins vs Yale vs Columbia vs WashU vs HMS
Hi everyone, trying to see if I can draw upon the collective wisdom and insight of SDN to help me make my decision and make an informed choice! I have been beyond lucky and privileged in this cycle, and I have narrowed my choices down to these few (crossed out Penn/Duke/NYU) in light of costs and personal preferences. For a bit of context, I want to go into a competitive surgical specialty and will need research to do so, but I have taken a gap year and would like to refrain from doing a... Yale vs Columbia
Very grateful to be in this situation, cannot really go wrong, but would love some insight. Thanks! Yale: Pros: P/F grading throughout all 4 years. Students seem to be very happy about this. Yale System + flexibility. Lots of time to pursue interests and research. START seems like a good op. both socially and for research. Integration with entire campus allow for pursuit of my non-clinical interests. Cons: I don't love that nearly everyone takes a fifth... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

High Stat Reapplicant Advice - need some eyes
Hey everyone. I'm not really on SDN so this is a bit new to me. I'm a 2022 graduate from a HYPS school and applied this year during my gap year. I received 3 iis from the bolded schools in my school list below. Got post-interview Rs from Yale and JHU, and am waiting for BUSM, but don't have too much hope. Would really like some advice on whether this result is from a red flag on my written app, or something with my essays/interviews. - Einstein - BUSM - CWRU - VP&S - Duke - Emory -... Harvard vs Duke vs Yale vs Mayo AZ/UCLA/WashU (all full tuition)
Hello everyone! Thanks so much for reading this and helping out — I never in a million years thought I’d have even one of these options, let alone multiple. Because they are all such incredible schools, I feel some major FOMO about the ones I won’t pick. Guess this is a great problem to have, but I really don't want to make the wrong choice! Thank you again, and I am so very grateful for these options. Future career goals: Largely undecided, but I want to keep my options open Overall what... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UTSW (Full Tuition) vs UCSF vs Yale with a SO twist
As the cycle has come to an end I am so grateful to be in the position that I was accepted to Baylor, UTSW, UCSF, and Yale among others. I have narrowed down my 3 schools already to Yale, UTSW, and UCSF that I will be going into April 15th with. I am thinking of eventually going into oncology so would be going into internal medicine after medical school. Could also be convinced to do Ortho or Neurology (passionate about muscular dystrophy research). I am also from Texas but have been living... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Columbia vs Yale vs Duke vs HMS
Hey y'all, I'm really glad to be choosing between these schools but I need some help. Financial aid hasn't been released for any of these options so for argument's sake I'd like to keep cost out of the equation until I know more (except for possible COL differences). This is just intended to suss out the different characteristics of each school and where I'd be the best fit. General Comments: I'm more of a city guy but firmly believe that I could grow to like just about... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me decide: Columbia vs. Harvard vs. Yale
Hey all, I was pretty lucky with my admissions cycle and have at least two great schools to choose from (Yale and Columbia), and recently got a sort of "under-the-table" tip from a prof I work with at Harvard that I would have good news from them soon. Not to count chickens before they hatch, but I am trying to decide which of these three schools would be best for me. I received a half-tuition merit scholarship from Columbia and am waiting to see need-based aid. No word yet on Yale's... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Early Decision to Yale/Penn?
Hello everyone, I have a pretty unique situation and am wondering if you guys think this is a good use of early decision, as I know it is generally unfavorable in med school admissions. I am currently a junior in a BS/MD program where the medical school is ranked ~T20. However, I have prepared my application over the last few years to apply out, but obviously have a great backup (I don't lose my seat in the BS/MD if I choose to apply out). Therefore, if I apply out, I'd only apply to the top... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
