Why don't we have more dental schools?
I understand that some schools may not be able to open dental schools due to limited funding, but how about large well-established schools? For example, Johns Hopkins and Yale both have great medical schools, how hard would it be for them to open dental schools? Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Internal Medicine Matching for IMG
Hello, I know this question have been asked many times over here, but I still would prefer to ask it from my own point of view. 1- I would like to know what are my chances as an IMG to get matched into one of the top-tier programs in IM (i.e: John Hopkins, UCSF, Duke, Yale... etc)? 2- Is there a minimum USMLE step 1 used by these program directors as a cut-off? 3- If I got matched into IM program, should I also be worried later on about getting a fellowship in Cardiology, as is this... HMS vs. Yale vs. Duke vs. Cornell
Thanks for everyone who clicked on this thread! I'm in the fortunate (but agonizing) position of having to decide between these institutions. I'm personally interested in business and innovation and how these concepts can be applied toward improving healthcare delivery--as well as biomedical research. In fact, I have MSTP offers from all schools except Harvard. Part of my paralysis is I'm not completely sure I would like to run my own lab in an academic setting...Thanks in advance for your... Full Cost of Attendance at Mount Sinai vs. Yale?
Hello all! This is my first post on SDN. I'm hoping to receive some advice on my medical school decision. I have been fortunate enough to have received admission to Yale and Mount Sinai, among other schools this cycle. Below is some of my background, as well as my pros/cons. I would appreciate hearing some helpful opinions from others. Please let me know what you think! P.S The biggest difference is cost (ZERO DOLLARS VERSUS ~60K PER YEAR) . thoughts on these programs for ranking
What are your thoughts on these programs, I'm having some trouble ranking them. I am from Cali and plan on practicing there in the future, most likely want to do academia but not sure. BID, UTSW, MIR, Mayo, USC, Wisconsin, Emory, Columbia, Maryland, Yale, UC Irvine, UC Davis 1-2 is toss up between BID and UTSW, really liked both places and both location, i guess it's just choosing to be cold or warm at this point? UTSW has better volume and it's up and coming, BID has the harvard name... thoughts on these programs for ranking (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Possible MD Schools to Apply to/Questions about New MCAT
Hey guys so I just have a bunch of questions. If you could answer all or some of them I'd love you forever. 1. Is a 3.56 cGPA good for applying to med schools? The science gap is around the same 2. I've had to work all throughout college, does that help my application? 3. Where could I apply with these stats: -3.56 cGPA -150+ hours volunteering at hospital -med internship at yale for a summer -research for one year -working all throughout college -ECs: part of a dance company, in... Really depressed about match; what to do?
So I switched from interest in a more competitive specialty to IM and one of the things I was excited about was going to a good program for residency. So I ranked 4 good West Coast programs at the top, then after that had 3 top east coast programs (MGH, JHH, Duke) then 2 top midwest programs, but somehow I fell all the way to my #10, Yale. I'm very depressed especially after reading the things people this year had to say about Yale (I interviewed there but hadn't really thought about it... Really depressed about match; what to do? New here. No diagnosis. Questions about testing.
Hi. I know that you all, unfortunately, have a lot of experience and knowledge about CF so I hope you don't mind me crashing your party. :o My son just turned 18 yrs old. A while ago, he brought this white bubbly rash on his palms to my attention. You know where I'm going with this. I did some googling and brought him to the dermatologist. He immediately confirmed my amateur diagnosis of Aquagenic Wrinkling of the Palms. My son said that they really start to hurt after his shower and the skin just falls off. The doctor prescribed some Aluminum Chloride solution to apply to his palms but my son never uses it. He has high f...
