Patient experiences of information-sharing and patient-centred care across the broad landscape of primary care practice and provision: a nationally representative survey of Australian adults
CONCLUSIONS: Public health and health services researchers, policymakers and leaders of primary care professions have a role and responsibility to ensure practitioners are confident and competent in sharing health information with their patients that considers their health literacy needs, and the importance of patient-centred care. Research focussed on a more in-depth understanding of the differences and relationships observed across the primary care landscape in this study is recommended.PMID:38704562 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02359-8 (Source: Primary Care)

Sexually transmitted infections, the epidemic that persists after the COVID-19 pandemic: an analysis of the primary care electronic health records covering about 5 million people in Catalonia
CONCLUSIONS: After a significant reduction in 2020, the number of STIs recorded in primary care rapidly rebounded, and the current trend is similar to that of 2019, except for HIV. These findings underscore the dynamic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on STI diagnoses and highlight the importance of ongoing monitoring and public health interventions in the post-pandemic period.PMID:38704552 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02395-4 (Source: Primary Care)

The transcriptional landscape of coding and non-coding RNAs in recurrent and non-recurrent colon cancer
Am J Pathol. 2024 May 2:S0002-9440(24)00163-9. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpath.2024.04.003. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA considerable number of colon cancer patients with local or local advanced disease suffer from recurrence and there is an urgent need for better prognostic biomarkers in this setting. Here, the transcriptomic landscape of messenger RNAs (mRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs), small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs), small Cajal body-specific RNAs (scaRNAs), pseudogenes and circular RNAs (circRNAs), as well as RNAs denoted as miscellaneous RNAs, was profiled by total RNA sequencing. In additi...

Elevated Neutrophils and reduced NK cells are associated with altered tear molecular signatures and clinical sequelae of chronic ocular Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
CONCLUSION: Distinct ocular surface immune profile variations were observed to correlate with clinical stages of chronic ocular SJS. Our findings uncover novel mechanisms and potential for targeted therapy in chronic ocular SJS patients.PMID:38703818 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtos.2024.04.003 (Source: The Ocular Surface)

Characteristics and utility of high-resolution optical coherence microscopy images of endocervical canal lesions
CONCLUSIONS: The application of the OCM system in cervical canal lesions is feasible and could help improve detection of occult ECLs in cervical cancer screening programs. This study lays the foundation for further research on OCM in cervical canal lesions in vivo, which also has a potential impact on projecting pathologic evaluation beyond what is currently possible, perhaps globally.PMID:38704601 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqae052 (Source: American Journal of Clinical Pathology)
