Trends in outpatient rehabilitation use for stroke survivors
Stroke survivors with residual disabling deficits who are medically stable may be recommended for acute rehabilitation or outpatient therapy, depending partly on the severity of their deficits. Here we sought to determine if the location at which patients that need rehabilitation post-stroke has shift from inpatient to an outpatient setting.

Role of incubitus truncal ataxia, and equivalent standing grade 3 ataxia in the diagnosis of central acute vestibular syndrome
acute vestibular syndrome is a diagnostic challenge, requiring a rapid and precise diagnosis to take therapeutic actions. Truncal ataxia, inability to sit still, and Babinski flexor dysergy were evaluated. Material anf methods: 52 patients with central pathology (stroke in aica and pica territory) and vestibular neuritis were prospectively studied. MRI of the brain was used as the gold standard.

Timing stroke: A review on stroke pathophysiology and its influence over time on diffusion measures
Diffusion imaging (DWI) is considered an optimal technique to detect hyperacute cerebral ischemia and has thus enriched the clinical management of patients with suspected stroke. Researchers have taken this technique beyond with Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI)-extracted measures, which have been proposed as biomarkers of stroke progression. A large body of literature report on the correlates between pathophysiological events, such as cytotoxic and vasogenic edema, and diffusion changes in the brain.

Adjuvant high-flow normobaric oxygen after mechanical thrombectomy for posterior circulation stroke: A randomized clinical trial
Recent studies suggest only a third of posterior circulation stroke patients have a good functional outcome with a high mortality after mechanical thrombectomy. To mitigate mortality rates and increase functional outcomes, we investigated the safety and efficacy of high-flow, normobaric oxygen (NBO) after endovascular recanalization in posterior circulation stroke.

Reversible cerebral artery constriction accompanied with stroke-like episode in MELAS: A case series
The pathophysiology of stroke-like episode (SLE) in mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes (MELAS) was uncertain, though mitochondrial metabolic crisis of cortical neurons and mitochondrial proliferation in small vessels of brain have been considered. However, the involvement of major cerebral vessels was debated. We aimed to investigate whether major cerebral vessels participate in SLE.

Prevalence, predictors, and prognosis of mortality among elderly stroke patients with convulsive status epilepticus in the United States
Stroke is the most common cause of epilepsy in the elderly. However, despite the high mortality typically associated with convulsive status epilepticus (CSE), there is a dearth of nationwide data on the magnitude and association of CSE with mortality among hospitalized elderly with stroke in the United States.

Assessment of on-treatment platelet reactivity at high and low shear stress and platelet activation status after the addition of dipyridamole to aspirin in the early and late phases after TIA and ischaemic stroke
Data are limited on the ability of dipyridamole to additionally inhibit platelet function/reactivity in ischaemic cerebrovascular disease (CVD) patients on aspirin.

Association of hyperglycemia and computed tomographic perfusion deficits in patients who underwent endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke caused by a proximal intracranial occlusion: A subgroup analysis of a randomized phase 3 trial (MR CLEAN)
Hyperglycemia is highly prevalent in patients with acute ischemic stroke and is associated with increased risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, larger infarct size and unfavorable outcome. Furthermore, glucose may modify the effect of endovascular treatment (EVT) in patients with ischemic stroke. Hyperglycemia might lead to accelerated conversion of penumbra into infarct core. However, it remains uncertain whether hyperglycemia on admission is associated with the size of penumbra or infarct core in acute ischemic stroke.

Apolipoprotein E genotypes in stroke patients from urban Tanzania
Stroke disproportionately affects low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with an increasing burden in Sub-Saharan African populations, who are undergoing an epidemiological transition. The ε2 and ε4 gene variants of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) are each linked to an increased risk of intracerebral hemorrhage [1], although the mechanisms of this association are not well understood. There also appear to be connections between ischemic stroke and ApoE gene variants, especially ε4, although these are less established [2].

Acute ischemic stroke and vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia post COVID-19 vaccination; a systematic review
One of the rare but potentially serious side effects of COVID-19 vaccination is arterial and venous thrombosis. Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) cases have been reported post COVID-19 vaccination. Herein, we systematically reviewed the reported cases of AIS after COVID-19 vaccination.

Cilostazol improves endothelial function in patients with ischemic stroke: A randomized controlled single-center study with flow-mediated dilation technique
Recent CSPS.com study has shown the benefit of adding cilostazol on aspirin or clopidogrel for secondary stroke prevention [1]. Because a pleiotropic effect other than its anti-platelet effect such as vasodilatation and anti-atherosclerosis effect may underlie the effect [1], we examined the effects of adding cilostazol on clopidogrel on endothelial function in flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD) technique.

Feasibility, acceptability, and appropriateness of a mobile health stroke intervention among Ghanaian health workers
mHealth interventions can improve care delivery in settings with limited resources. The Phone-based Interventions under Nurse Guidance after Stroke (PINGS) is a nurse-led, mHealth-centered approach to blood pressure (BP) control among recent stroke survivors with hypertension in Ghana. It has 4 key components: (1) home blood pressure monitoring, (2) nurse-coordinated mhealth consults, (3) phone alerts as medication reminders, and (4) patient motivational messages delivered as interactive voice recordings.
