Detection of post-stroke visual field loss by quantification of the retrogeniculate visual pathway
This study explored the association between the microstructural integrity of the retrogeniculate pathway and visual field loss in disabling stroke patients undergoing inpatient rehabilitation. Thirty patients with stroke lesions involving the retrogeniculate visual pathway were included. The degree of visual field loss was determined by the visual field index and mean deviation using automated perimetry.

Impact on quitting smoking of cognitive impairment in stroke patients
Smoking is a well-established risk factor for strokes, leading to a high incidence of cognitive deficits. Since the impact of cognitive impairment on the effectiveness of interventions for smoking cessation is not yet known, we considered important to assess it.

Impact of prior antiplatelet therapy on outcomes of endovascular therapy for acute ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion: Sub-analysis of the RESCUE-Japan Registry 2
The impact of prior antiplatelet therapy (APT) on clinical outcomes of endovascular therapy (EVT) for large vessel occlusion (LVO) on clinical outcomes is uncertain. We explored the associations between prior APT and in-hospital and 90-day outcomes in a real-world setting.

Infarct location and cognitive change in patients after acute ischemic stroke: The ICONS study
Post stroke cognitive impairment is closely related to the quality of life. We aimed to evaluate the association between infarct location and cognitive change over time after acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

The safety of rapid administration of enteral nutrition in acute stroke patients
Early initiation of enteral nutrition (EN) is recommended for acute stroke patients, but it is time-consuming. Reducing EN administration time without increasing the frequency of complications is a worthwhile goal. We aimed to determine whether this goal was feasible.

Nationwide rates of outpatient clinic attendance by stroke survivors in Ghana: Analysis by region and facility
Data on utilization of outpatient departments (OPD) within a country is one strategic approach to gain nationwide and regional insights into the frequency of and types of health facilities where patients seek healthcare. In particular, such data could be used to develop quality improvement interventions in sub-Saharan Africa where the burden of stroke is high but outcomes are relatively poor.

Predictors of in-hospital and 90-day post-discharge stroke mortality in Lusaka, Zambia
Factors associated with stroke mortality are understudied in sub-Saharan Africa but have implications for designing interventions that improve stroke outcomes. We investigated predictors of in-hospital and 90-day post-discharge stroke mortality in Lusaka, Zambia.

Short-term or long-term outcomes for stroke patients with cancer according to biological markers
Although hypercoagulability using D-dimer levels may be a useful marker for predicting outcomes in ischemic stroke patients with cancer, other biological markers for predicting outcomes are unclear. We aimed to investigate the associations between several biological markers and short-term or long-term outcomes among ischemic stroke patients with cancer.

The meaning of non-culprit stenosis in hyperacute stroke with large vessel occlusion
To diagnose atherosclerotic occlusion mechanism in acute ischemic stroke patients with large vessel occlusion prior to revascularization therapy is challenging. The aim was to verify the relationship between atherosclerotic occlusion and non-culprit stenosis detected in urgent neuroimaging prior to interventional procedure.

Demographic, clinical and neuroimaging markers of post-stroke emotionalism: A preliminary investigation
Post stroke emotionalism (PSE) is a common but poorly understood condition. The value of altered brain structure as a putative risk factor for PSE alongside routinely available demographic and clinical variables has yet to be elucidated.

Genetic determinants of intracranial large artery stenosis in the northern Manhattan study
Intracranial stenosis is one of the most common causes of stroke worldwide. Several single nucleotide polymorphisms have been associated with intracranial atherosclerosis, which is inferred to be the most common underlying cause of intracranial large artery stenosis (ILAS). We previously reviewed known genetic variants related to ILAS in predominantly Asian cohorts, but their prevalence and role in ILAS among western multiethnic populations are uncertain.

Ischemic stroke shortly after vaccination against SARS-CoV-2: A case-control study
Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 has been associated with rare occurrences of severe venous thromboses. Very little data exist about arterial ischemic strokes. We have assessed the features of ischemic strokes occurring shortly after vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 in the Cremona area, Italy.

Cerebral edema in acute stroke: Effect of thrombolytic treatment
Cerebral edema (CED) is a common complication of ischemic stroke in Intensive Care Unit. Although frequently observed in patients undergoing intravenous thrombolytic (IVT) treatment, the pathogenic role of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) in CED induction has not yet been definitively clarified. The aim of our study is to verify the relationship between CED and rtPA in patients affected by acute ischemic stroke, without reperfusion signs, evaluating the CED growth rate in the first week after stroke onset.

Botulinum toxin for the treatment of tremor
Tremor is one of the common movement disorders worldwide. In the recent classification tremor has been classified into two axes (I and II). Based on axis I feature tremor can be classified as isolated and combined tremor syndrome. Common tremor syndromes include Parkinsonism-associated tremors, essential tremor including essential tremor plus, dystonic tremors, and others. Tremor may also occur secondary to demyelinating, infectious and inflammatory diseases, and stroke. Adequate management of tremor has been an unmet need in clinical practice.
