Adherence to oral endocrine therapy in racial/ethnic minority patients with low socioeconomic status before and during the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSION: OET adherence was significantly reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic in racial/ethnic minority patients with low SES. Patient-centered interventions are necessary to improve OET adherence in these patients.PMID:37380914 | DOI:10.1007/s11096-023-01609-6

Spatiotemporal control of genome engineering in cone photoreceptors
CONCLUSIONS: The Arr3P2ACreERT2 mouse, an inducible cone-specific Cre driver, is a valuable line in studying cone cell biology, function, as well as its relationship with rod and other retinal cells. Moreover, the Cre activity can be induced by delivering tamoxifen intragastrically as early as PD2, which will be useful for studying retinal development or in rapid degenerative mouse models.PMID:37381060 | DOI:10.1186/s13578-023-01033-3

NO-sensitive guanylyl cyclase discriminates pericyte-derived interstitial from intra-alveolar myofibroblasts in murine pulmonary fibrosis
CONCLUSION: In summary, αSMA/PDGFRβ-positive myofibroblasts should not be addressed as a homogeneous target cell type within pulmonary fibrosis.PMID:37349733 | DOI:10.1186/s12931-023-02479-2

Effects of 7-ketocholesterol on tamoxifen efficacy in breast carcinoma cell line models in vitro
This study shows that 7-KC can modulate tamoxifen efficacy as well as cellular migration and invasion, making 7-KC a promising candidate for future studies.PMID:37343688 | DOI:10.1016/j.jsbmb.2023.106354

Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacokinetics of Tamoxifen in a Zimbabwean breast cancer cohort
This study aimed to determine the association between the CYP2D6 polymorphisms and endoxifen plasma concentrations in a cohort of Zimbabwean breast cancer patients (n = 40). TaqMan genotyping and copy number assays were done to determine CYP2D6 genotypes. Tamoxifen and metabolites were quantitated using LC-MS/MS. The population had high frequencies of the CYP2D6 reduced function alleles, *17 (15%) and *29 (18%). The median endoxifen concentration was 4.78 ng/ml and 55% of the patients, mostly intermediate metabolizers were below the endoxifen therapeutic threshold 5.97 ng/ml. The CYP2D6 phenotypes and activity scores were ...
