Preparation of an ophthalmic formulation of TPGS-modified insulin-loaded liposomes and its < em > in vitro < /em > corneal permeation and pharmacokinetics in rabbit eyes
CONCLUSION: The prepared T-LPs/INS shows an improved corneal permeability, ocular surface retention capacity and eye tissue concentration of insulin in rabbits.PMID:37313826 | PMC:PMC10267244 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.05.20

Clinical and cost outcomes of a polyethylene glycol (PEG)-coated patch versus drainage after axillary lymph node dissection in breast cancer: results from a multicentre randomized clinical trial
CONCLUSION: Compared with patients who received drainage after axillary lymph node dissection, the use of a polyethylene glycol-coated patch resulted in a higher rate of seroma, but a lower number of postoperative outpatient or emergency department visits and thus a reduction in overall costs.PMID:37311694 | DOI:10.1093/bjs/znad150

Protease-Responsive Hydrogel Microparticles for Intradermal Drug Delivery
Biomacromolecules. 2023 Jun 12. doi: 10.1021/acs.biomac.3c00265. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTProtease-responsive multi-arm polyethylene glycol-based microparticles with biscysteine peptide crosslinkers (CGPGG↓LAGGC) were obtained for intradermal drug delivery through inverse suspension photopolymerization. The average size of the spherical hydrated microparticles was ∼40 μm after crosslinking, making them attractive as a skin depot and suitable for intradermal injections, as they are readily dispensable through 27G needles. The effects of exposure to matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) on the microparticles were eval...

Effects of N-succinyl-chitosan coating on properties of astaxanthin-loaded PEG-liposomes: Environmental stability, antioxidant/antibacterial activities, and in vitro release
In this study, N-succinyl-chitosan (NSC)-coated AST polyethylene glycol (PEG)-liposomes were constructed to enhance the biocompatibility, stability, and intestinal-targeted migration of AST. The AST NSC/PEG-liposomes were uniform in size, had larger particles, greater encapsulation efficiency, and better storage, pH, and temperature stability than the AST PEG-liposomes. AST NSC/PEG-liposomes exerted stronger antibacterial and antioxidant activities against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus than AST PEG-liposomes. The NSC coating not only protects AST PEG-liposomes from gastric acid but also prolongs the retention ...
