Vaccination approach in patients with an allergic reaction to COVID-19 vaccines or at risk of developing allergic reactions
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the potentially life-saving benefits of vaccination in a global pandemic environment, it is a safe and effective method to administer vaccines to at-risk patients using desensitization or split dosing techniques, based on their sensitivity status determined through a PEG skin test. This approach allows for the avoidance of preventing access to vaccines, while still ensuring the safety of patients.PMID:37345399 | DOI:10.5578/tt.20239920

Role of anti-polyethylene glycol (PEG) antibodies in the allergic reactions to PEG-containing Covid-19 vaccines: Evidence for immunogenicity of PEG
Conclusions: The small percentage of people who have extremelevels of anti-PEG Ab in their blood may be at increased risk for HSRs/anaphylaxis to PEGylated vaccines and other PEGylated injectables. This risk might be further increased by the anti-PEG immunogenicity of these vaccines. Screening for anti-PEG Ab "supercarriers" may help predicting reactors and thus preventing these adverse phenomena.PMID:37330369 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.06.009

Polyethylene glycol and chitosan functionalized manganese oxide nanoparticles for antimicrobial and anticancer activities
J Colloid Interface Sci. 2023 Jun 9;648:907-915. doi: 10.1016/j.jcis.2023.06.029. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBiocompatible polymer-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles could offer promising applications in biomedical sciences. We fabricated polymer functionalized tri-manganese tetra oxide (Mn3O4) nanoparticles with the co-precipitation method and an octahedral crystal structure having a crystallite size of 10-17 nm was identified via XRD analyses. The SEM graph depicted the non-uniform and smooth surface of PEG-functionalized Mn3O4 NPs as compared to Mn3O4 and chitosan-coated Mn3O4 NPs. Elemental composition in the pre...

Integrated continuous melt granulation-based powder-to-tablet line: process investigation and scale-up on the same equipment
Eur J Pharm Biopharm. 2023 Jun 13:S0939-6411(23)00158-3. doi: 10.1016/j.ejpb.2023.06.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn the last decades, continuous manufacturing (CM) has become a research priority in the pharmaceutical industry. However, significantly fewer scientific researches address the investigation of integrated, continuous systems, a field that needs further exploration to facilitate the implementation of CM lines. This research outlines the development and optimization of an integrated, polyethylene glycol aided melt granulation-based powder-to-tablet line that operates fully continuously. The flowability and ...
