Continuous Monitoring of the Hydration Behavior of Hydrophilic Matrix Tablets Using Time-Domain NMR
Chem Pharm Bull (Tokyo). 2023;71(7):576-583. doi: 10.1248/cpb.c23-00214.ABSTRACTTime-domain NMR (TD-NMR) was used for continuous monitoring of the hydration behavior of hydrophilic matrix tablets. The model matrix tablets comprised high molecular weight polyethylene oxide (PEO), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), and polyethylene glycol (PEG). The model tablets were immersed in water. Their T2 relaxation curves were acquired by TD-NMR with solid-echo sequence. A curve-fitting analysis was conducted on the acquired T2 relaxation curves to identify the NMR signals corresponding to the nongelated core remaining in the samp...

Impact of osmotic stress on production, morphology, and fitness of Beauveria bassiana blastospores
Appl Microbiol Biotechnol. 2023 Jun 26. doi: 10.1007/s00253-023-12631-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBeauveria bassiana is a cosmopolitan entomopathogenic fungus that can infect over 1000 insect species. During growth inside the host, B. bassiana transitions from hyphal to yeast-like unicellular growth as blastospores. Blastospores are well suited as an active ingredient in biopesticides due to their ease of production by liquid fermentation. Herein, we investigated the impact of hyperosmotic growth environments mediated by ionic and non-ionic osmolytes on two strains of B. bassiana (ESALQ1432 and GHA) relevant to growth...

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles require K < sup > + < /sup > and hydrogen sulfide to regulate nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolism during adaptive response to drought and nickel stress in cucumber
Environ Pollut. 2023 Jun 23:122008. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.122008. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCrop plants face severe yield losses worldwide owing to their exposure to multiple abiotic stresses. The study described here, was conducted to comprehend the response of cucumber seedlings to drought (induced by 15% w/v polyethylene glycol 8000; PEG) and nickel (Ni) stress in presence or absence of titanium dioxide nanoparticle (nTiO2). In addition, it was also investigated how nitrogen (N) and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as the defense system, are affected by endogenous potassium (K+) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Cucu...

Vaccination approach in patients with an allergic reaction to COVID-19 vaccines or at risk of developing allergic reactions
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the potentially life-saving benefits of vaccination in a global pandemic environment, it is a safe and effective method to administer vaccines to at-risk patients using desensitization or split dosing techniques, based on their sensitivity status determined through a PEG skin test. This approach allows for the avoidance of preventing access to vaccines, while still ensuring the safety of patients.PMID:37345399 | DOI:10.5578/tt.20239920
