Abstract 3570: Identification of the DEAD box RNA helicase DDX3 as a therapeutic target in colorectal cancer
In this study, we evaluated whether DDX3 also plays a role in the constitutionally activated Wnt-signaling that drives colorectal cancer and therefore could be a potential therapeutic target in this cancer type.To determine if DDX3 is expressed in colorectal cancers, we immunohistochemically stained a cohort of 303 Dutch and German colorectal cancer patients. Targeting lactate transport suppresses in vivo breast tumour growth.
CONCLUSIONS: This work supports MCTs as promising targets in cancer therapy, demonstrates the contribution of MCTs to cancer cell aggressiveness and, more importantly, shows, for the first time, the disruption of in vivo breast tumour growth by targeting lactate transport. 17β-estradiol induces stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 expression in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer cells
Conclusions: This study illustrates for the first time that, in contrast to hepatic and adipose tissue, estrogen induces SCD-1 expression and activity in breast carcinoma cells. These results support SCD-1 as a therapeutic target in estrogen-sensitive breast cancer.
