Is this a bad excuse for a W on my transcript?
Hello everyone! My primary undergrad institution was UCLA. After I graduated, I took a few pre-reqs at two different CC's. I took Medical Terminology at one college and I initially got a W for that class because I mixed up some deadlines and missed an online midterm. I dropped the class because of that and took it again this summer and got an A. For the other W, I initially signed up for Physiology at a CC. I planned to take it Summer 2018 but I ended up getting a job as a PT Tech. Because... Is this a bad excuse for a W on my transcript? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Three Questions for practicing anesthesiologists.
Hate procedures, love pharmacology AND physiology (a lot), hate rounding and incessant note writing, love some downtime during the day. Is anesthesia a good field to consider given these metrics? If a person is especially bad at procedures/hand coordination, is anesthesia a good field to go into if you put in major time during residency to learn these skills/get better at them (e.g mannequins, constant repetition even when off service)? What are the procedures that constitute 95% of what... Three Questions for practicing anesthesiologists. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Theoretical physics and medicine
I have found a few MD/PhD programs that would let students do the phd portion in physics. I was curious if I got into such a program could my research be imploring methods used in theoretical physics to problems in physiology and medicine? By methods I mean using higher level mathematics and principles from physics, but again from a theoretical approach. For example, stuff like quantum biology, particle physics (I would assume that has some affects on cellular function at the subatomic... Do I need to pre-study before medical school starts?
I've been out of school for two years now and med school starts next week. Do I need to do any pre-studying? And do the concepts build off of each other? I'm hoping instructors go over foundations and such beforehand. I'm especially worried about anatomy & physiology, since I've never them. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Limits Where to Apply?
Long story short, struggled freshman year as a pre-med trying to balance classes and D1 athletics while also missing 3 weeks of class due to Mono (C's in intro Bio I and II and Chem I and II). Rebounded well sophomore year and onward (besides C's in orgo) and ended my final undergrad semester with a 3.9. A's in Biochemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Neurobiology. B's in Cell Biology, Histology and Inorganic Chem. Will need to take/retake 2-4 classes in the next 1-2 years before I apply... Limits Where to Apply? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Case Western M.S. in Medical Physiology 2019-2020
Hey all! I've just been accepted to the MS in Medical Physiology program at Case! I am super excited about what I believe to be a powerful curriculum! Any one here that has been recently accepted? Also for those still there or recent grads what can you tell us about the program? Look forward to hearing back. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tension PTX
You've done a bowel case for a perfed DU in an otherwise young healthy guy who took too much naproxen... At the end of the case, you put in a triple lumen with ultrasound, but still manage to get a little hole in the pleura... Patient extubated and in PACU, develops shortness of breath... can anyone walk me through the physiology of how this patient could develop a tension PTX if he's spontaneously breathing and not positive pressure ventilated... ? Pre-Reqs too Incomplete to Apply??
Hi all, So I have yet to take anatomy and physiology with lab because my school only offers it to seniors. Depending on the schools I apply to, I would still need to take an upper div psychology as well as statistics. Do I have too many pre-reqs that aren't finished in order to apply this cycle? I know that it depends on the school, but how much do they look at the anatomy and physiology grades? If not, I will need to take a gap year and apply next cycle. Would really appreciate some... The Rush
Delay in getting a patient to radiology. Yeah, I'll take them down myself. ED dumps a crashing patient on you. Don't worry, I'll sort it out. Tube, lines, done. I control their physiology now -- until I can't. The agony of resuscitation. The art of deresuscitation. The feeling that -- this needs to happen, right now, or this person dies, so get it done. And if you need to go home, that's fine, but I'm here all night. We're at war with death, and in the end it's a war we all lose -- but by... The Rush (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Step1 Resources Overload
Hello fellow student MDs, So I just finished MS1 and things are starting to get serious. So in my school, we take physiology in the first semester and anatomy in the second semester. Unfortunately, I feel like I forgot a lot of the physiology even though I did pretty good grades wise. My plan is to start lightly studying for Step1, only the concepts we already covered in school. I am hesitant in using my school lectures since they get into too much, low-yield, unnecessary, PhD level... Step1 Resources Overload (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Late night weekend case.. evacuating intracranial bleed, fontan physiology!
It is 2 am. After working for 17 hours straight out of your 24 hour shift, you get a phone call from neurosurgery. We have a patient coming in from OSH that was just discharged, and she has a large cerebellar subdural. She is "kind of sick", you are warned. You collect as much information as you can from the neurosurgery resident and look up the pt on EMR (some minor identifying details altered) 28 y.o. 128 kg (BMI 52) - Unbalanced AV septal defect and TGA, pulmonic stenosis s/p fontan... Lost and Confused about Undergrad Research
Recently finished year 2 of 5 of my degree, want to get started on undergraduate research but feel like I don't have the knowledge to present a compelling argument for why a PI should let me onto their project. First year was bumpy (4 W's and 3 AW's [administrative withdrawal] due to boyfriend's suicide that year, also why I'm doing 5 years instead of 4), but cGPA is 3.82. That being said, science classes I've taken that remain on my script include Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II +labs... Lost and Confused about Undergrad Research (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Harvard HMX
Anybody have any opinions on the program? Basically, Harvard is offering online biochem, genetics, physiology, and immunology for a certificate of completion, geared towards those interested in medicine. It's $1800 for all 4 classes, and each class is 10 weeks long. There's various registration periods. They're saying this is the first year this has been open to the public, and beforehand it was for soon to matriculate med students. HMX |... Harvard HMX (Source: Student Doctor Network)
