Cardiology Fellowship Interest
Hey all, I am currently an IM intern at a large academic institution. I just finished my CVICU rotation, and I think I have fallen in love with cardiology. The physiology and intellectual challenge are incredibly appealing to me, plus I really like how procedurally competent all of the fellows are regarding lines and critical care (at least at my institution). I feel like cardiology would challenge me to become the best physician I can be (I realize this probably sounds very naive and... Cardiology Fellowship Interest (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Please rank these extracurriculars and work experiences
Perhaps just include a number (1-10) beside the activity (10 being the most impressive to Medical schools). I am a Junior at a UC. I have little time left and can only choose 2-3 of these to do at once. In previous years, I worked as a food server to pay bills, commuted long hours and went to school...so I have nothing relevant yet to add to my application. -Scribe -Patient transporter -Pharmacy tech -Volunteer HS tutor (in low income part of town) -TA/IA for Physiology 1 -Experience in... Pain vs Cardiac - help!
Hey guys, I’m a CA-2 and have been struggling with fellowship options. I’ve narrowed it down to pain vs cardiac (yes, i know. They’re extremely different) and am having a hard time deciding. Have talked to a lot of different mentors, senior residents going into both the fellowships, and alumni from my program as well. In terms of cardiac, I enjoy the academic stuff about it (learning about the procedures, physiology, TEE, etc) and at this stage in my training don’t mind the middle of the... Pain vs Cardiac - help! Preparing for medical school
Hi guys, So I'm starting medical school this coming January at St. George's. I really want to start preparing ahead of time before going there because I know I have to work extra hard to make up for the fact that I'm attending a Caribbean school. I want to start studying biochem and anatomy/physiology since biochem was my weakest subject in undergrad and I've never taken anatomy. Anyway, do you guys recommend any youtube videos or anything else to get me started on my own for now? I won't... Preparing for medical school (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Registered Respiratory Therapist to Medical School?
Hello, I am a RRT and I am wondering if anyone has made the move from RRT to later become a MD? Is it possible? How did you do it? Does having experience as a RRT help with getting in? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am 25, 3.5 GPA with a BS in Ex. Physiology (waste of time) and a Associates of Respiratory Care. I have about 2 years of experience as a registered RT. Switching from Psych to Anesthesia - Advice?
Currently an intern at a fairly well-regarded University psych program (unfortunately no anesthesia program here). I was torn between anesthesia and psych for a while, I ultimately picked psych because I thought I'd enjoy the interpersonal aspects of psychiatry more than the hands on/physiology of anesthesia. While I still really enjoy psychiatry, I can't help but feel like a social worker or an adult baby sitter a lot of times. I could be happy enough doing psych, but I think the nature of... Two days into my very first anesthesiology rotation, and I've got more questions than answers!
I did this rotation kind of on a whim -- I liked the pharmacology and physiology aspect that I was exposed to during my preclinical sciences and even when while studying for my Step 1 (ie blood-gas coefficient, PEEP, MAC, etc. these kinds of things). I don't think I have the personality for surgery, although, I have not yet done my surgery rotation (I've found myself paying attention to the surgeon during the operation more so, sometimes I need to remind myself to return my attention to the... Non-Traditional Applicant For Psych Programs
Hi everyone.....my situation is a bit odd...I graduated from UCSD in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Physiology and Neuroscience)..I originally wanted to go to medical school and was a pre-med but it did not happen. Unfortunately my father became really sick and I ended up taking care of him and being his caregiver for a few years until he was moved into hospice. When he went into hospice I went ahead and started working in an unrelated field, insurance. I am an Insurance Agent... Non-Traditional Applicant For Psych Programs (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice for MS1 who hates flashcards?
Hey guys! I just passed my first Foundations block not sure how (again taken 3 years off to support my family, first-gen student and also dealing with the loss of my dad who passed away 3 months ago). My school has recently dramatically changed its curriculum and its prereqs for the incoming students next year. Unfortunately for me and a lot of my classmates, foundations included so many classes I have not taken a pre-req for (embryology, histology, physiology, clinically relevant... Need Assistance with School List Please
Hi people, I question what schools I can be competitive at upon completion of my master's degree in biology next year and would love some guidance in forming my MD school list for 2020. Even naming a few schools would greatly help me. Here are my stats/resume briefly: In my undergrad, I graduated with a – 3.86 cGPA and 3.86 sGPA – 520 MCAT – will highly likely end my masters in bio program with a 4.0 gpa – I am a CA applicant, non-URM &: – have one second author publication in physiology... Would you suggest to continuously review course material from anatomy, genetics, etc. to help lighten learning load in medical school?
This may be a dumb question, I’m sorry. I was just wondering if it would be beneficial to me to review courses, such as; anatomy, genetics, cell bio, physiology, biochemistry, etc. I have read about a lot of Medical Students who said that taking these classes helped them when they were having to learn it in medical school but because their memory faded a bit, it wasn’t as helpful as it could have been if they were able to recall more. Especially with anatomy because there is so much... Would you suggest to continuously review course material from anatomy, genetics, etc. to help lighten learning load in medical schoo...
