Confusion about Pre-Requisites
At my UG, we are able to skip both Gen Bio 1 + 2 with AP Biology credit. I was always told that I shouldn't use AP credit, but as a Bio major, I'm going to be taking harder biology classes anyways (e.g. Genetics, Physiology). My school already does this really weird thing were we have 1 semester of Gen Chem + 2 semesters of Organic + 1 semester of Biochem (but we label the first semester of Organic on AMCAS as Gen Chem 2), so I was wondering if I could just do the same with my biology... Combining Careers?
My Background: BSc in Physics with a 2.965 GPA that needs improvement. I have taken biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, anatomy and physiology, etc. My interests are: I want to develop HIV and cancer medications. I have volunteered in these areas, and I want to do more. I want to help animals get a prosthetic tail, my Pomeranian had hers amputated and I wish to help her for cosmetic reasons. Shadowing at a vet has so many problems, what can I do to help owners and pets as it's... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any changes in how classes from online/extension schools are viewed?
It's looking like my wife is going to have trouble filling out all of the classes she needs for summer and fall. We are looking at rounding out her schedule with 1 elective, e.g. physiology (which would be a retake), histology, etc. I hadn't seen a thread on this since 2020 though and wondered if anymore consensus had formed about online classes, extensions schools, and having multiple schools on a PB transcript post covid. Wondering if I matched into the wrong specialty
Competitive US MD student at a top 10 school who just matched into a non-procedural speciality but now wondering if I matched into the wrong specialty. I took an anesthesiology elective as an MS3 and was bored out of my mind as it was a two week stretch that primarily involved me just observing outside of intubating and getting some IVs. Recently did an ICU sub-I and was amazed at the expertise and grasp of physiology and bedside procedures the anesthesia residents and attendings had. Made... Question regarding Post-bacc and GPA
So I messed up in 5 classes during my undergrad. I earned a C- in Physics 2. D in Gen Chem 2. C in Bio 2. I failed Biochem and Anatomy due to family emergency. I plan to retake these courses. I plan to take a more thorough anatomy and physiology course that is two separate courses. A&P 1 A&P 2. I plan to take an additional course which I haven't before (Microbiology). I'm confident that I will ace these courses since I have already seen the course material before and that I have studied... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

High School Student in Need of Guidance!!! Please Help!
Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on a public platform, so please be easy on me lol. I am a senior in high school, taking classes at my local community college as a Dual Enrolled student. By the time I graduate high school, I will have around 90 credits (my AA and then some) with the following prereqs for dental school completed: - gen chem 1/2 - gen bio 1/2 (hybrid) - ochem 1 - physics 1 - microbiology (hybrid) - anatomy and physiology 1/2 (hybrid) - composition 1/2 (all... Seriously Questioning My Choice of Specialty
I am seven months into intern year of IM residency and am seriously questioning whether I have made the right choice. I chose IM because I like physiology, pathophysiology, diagnostic problem solving, and working directly with patients. I had not fancied myself a "procedure guy" in medical school so IM seemed like a good fit for these reasons. Fast forward to intern year...the job is not at all matching up to what I had envisioned. First of all, the work is extremely tedious. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UCSF v UTMB
I need help. I'm torn between UTMB, a school I'm really passionate about for aerospace medicine and campus culture, and UCSF, a school where I'd get a portion of a tuition waiver. Now, I usually hate research. I did neuro research for half a year after graduation and wanted to wrap my car around a tree. But that changed when I started getting into aerospace medicine and gravitational physiology. To me, this is the tits. I've got a lit review in print about the effect of microgravity... I failed most of my prereqs during Undergrad and now plan to do a post bacc
I have just heard about the UNE post bacc program and plan to retake all of the courses I failed. During Undergrad, I got a C+ in Gen chem1, a D in Gen chem 2, I got an A- in gen bio 1 and a C in gen bio 2. B in Physics 1 and a C- in Physics 2. I got an A in orgo 1 and lab, I got a B i orgo 2 and lab. I got an F in Biochem and Anatomy. I plan to retake Gen chem 2, Physics 2, Biochem and Anatomy and Physiology (I only took anatomy). The biggest reason for my low grades were due to personal... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are just pre-reqs enough for med school admission?
This is for a career changer who needs to fulfill all pre-reqs. At my university, everything is sequential and the fastest that all courses can be fulfilled in sequence is 1.5 to 2 years for around 35-38 credits. These are mostly 100 to 200 level courses, with Biochem being a 400 level. In this plan, I could also throw in a Stats course plus anatomy&physiology. The sequence: Gen chem I & II > Organic Chem I & II > Molecular Bio > Biochem | Gen Bio I & II and Physics I & II have no sequence... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

3.25 uGPA 3.5 last 40 hrs 492 mcat 2020 3.75 GPA in Case Western MSMP, committee letter, pass physiology cumulative final- Linkage if you get 500 but retaking in February 600hrs patient care associate other EC's fulfilled Grew up and in live in southern ohio where the school is and shown dedication to our area. What are my chances without retaking the mcat? I have seen they take a wide range of mcat starting 490-519. Would a case like mine be similar to why they would take a low mcat?
