Would "life science" course count toward BCPM?
BSC1005, department is biological sciences This is the course description: A survey of life on earth for non-majors. Evolution, anatomy, physiology, genetics, reproduction, and ecology are stressed. Lectures and discussions also demonstrate how biological knowledge is relevant to social, economic, environmental and philosophical problems. This is a General Education course. Initially it sounds like it obviously does, but the "social, economic, enviro..." part concerns me. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Science/non-science LORs
Hello all, Does an Anatomy and Physiology lecture and/or lab professor count as a science professor for science LOR? I know they say "biology", but is AP under the umbrella of biology or something? Not sure how this works and haven't been able to find an answer anywhere. Also, would a Health Sciences Research Methods professor be considered a non-science or science professor? Thanks! Comparing SMPs - any help appreciated!
Hi everyone, I'm trying to choose between a couple SMPs/master's programs and was looking to see if any current students (or anyone who has knowledge of these programs) had anything to share about what the programs are like and any general thoughts. As of now, I'm choosing between the UNT MS in Medical Sciences and the Tulane MS in Physiology. I'm aware both will be quite time consuming in their work, but some more details on the curriculum, faculty and program support/infrastructure, and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will this prevent the chance of obtaining a residency?
Hello everyone, Nice to meet you. I'm currently a medical student in a certain school. I unfortunately did not pass one 2nd semester class...physiology 2. My father wants me to work for sometime. May I ask everyone... 1. Does an F grade in medical school automatically dismiss the chance of a residency even if the other grades are good? 2. Does a LOA in med school also lower the chance of a residency? 3. My goal is to do psychiatry. If one has an MD but does not get into a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tutoring a non-science
Hi, I am considering becoming a peer mentor (the people who run the review sessions and answer student questions via email) for a Health Science class. It's Into to Audiology, which is about the physiology of hearing, hearing aids/cochlear implants, and auditory development, especially in the context of fostering language development. I have two questions: A.) Even though I think this is something I'd enjoy, I only have so much time to allocate to ECs and have a lot of other things... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

3.89/510 Re-applicant, WAMC?
Hi everyone! After having seen many other students get decent advice from these threads, I've decided to try out a WAMC post myself. As a bit of background, I am a graduate from the University of Maryland. I graduated with a 3.89 cGPA, 3.84 sGPA with a degree in Physiology/Neurobiology. I took my MCAT last year, and while I didn't do horribly (510), it was a bit below what I was usually getting on full length practice exams (514-515). My specific breakdown was 128 P/C, 125 CARS, 129 B/B, 128... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Career changer planning to apply for master in biomedical science
So I plan to apply to a masters program in the biology field. I have a BA in English and have completed lower division science courses such as Gen Bio, Gen Chem, anatomy and physiology, and first semester organic chemistry. I know most of not all ask for a statement of intention which generally ask about what research I have done. I haven’t done research (I think) but I am currently a lab technician and just got a position as a Jr scientist. Would any of those count? How can a career... Classes for Spring and Summer??
Hey Everyone, I was thinking of taking Anatomy and Physiology in the spring and summer. When I asked my pre-health advisor she said that dental schools don’t really care when you take it as long as you get a solid grade. So my question is do they care if you take anatomy and physiology in the spring and summer or would they rather you take it during the fall and winter? Just looking to get some opinions, thanks!
