Bioinformatic analysis of the role of immune checkpoint genes and immune infiltration in the pathogenesis and development of premature ovarian insufficiency
ConclusionBioinformatic analysis identified seven potential ICRDEGs associated with POI, among which the immune checkpoint moleculesCD200 and neurociliary protein-1 may be involved in the pathogenesis of POI. (Source: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics)

Stringent criteria needed for germline genome editing of human IVF embryos
AbstractGermline genome editing of IVF embryos is controversial because it is not directly health or lifesaving but is intended to prevent genetic diseases in yet-unborn future offspring. The following criteria are thus proposed for future clinical trials: (i) Due to medical risks, there should be cautious and judicious application while avoiding any non-essential usage, with rigorous patient counseling. (ii) Genome editing should only be performed on the entire batch of IVF embryos without initial PGT screening if all of them are expected to be affected by genetic disease. (iii) When there is a fair chance that some IVF e...

Long non-coding RNA LOXL1-AS1: a potential biomarker and therapeutic target in human malignant tumors
This article reviews the current understanding of the biological function and clinical significance of LOXL1-AS1 in human cancers. These findings suggest that LOXL1-AS1 may be both a reliable biomarker and a potential therapeutic target for cancers.PMID:38693424 | DOI:10.1007/s10238-024-01355-7 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Mismatch repair deficiency and abnormal p53 expression has significant predictive value for progesterone resistance and endometrial tumorigenesis in patients with endometrial atypical hyperplasia receiving fertility-preserving treatment
CONCLUSIONS: EAH patients with MMR-d and p53abn have a significantly higher risk of disease relapse and progression. Thus, MMR-d and p53abn may be used as predictive biomarkers of progestin resistance and endometrial tumorigenesis in EAH.PMID:38691985 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.04.013 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Extended-duration antibiotics are not associated with a reduction in surgical site infection in patients with ovarian cancer undergoing cytoreductive surgery with large bowel resection
CONCLUSION(S): In this retrospective study of patients with advanced ovarian cancer undergoing CRS with LBR, extended post-operative ABX was not associated with reduced SSI, and prolonged administration of antibiotics should be avoided unless clinically indicated.PMID:38691986 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.04.003 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

"Having cancer is very expensive": A qualitative study of patients with ovarian cancer and PARP inhibitor treatment
CONCLUSIONS: Patients identified cost, restrictive pharmacy benefits, and initial side effects as barriers to PARP-I usage. Having insurance and a supportive care team were identified as facilitators. Enhancing communication about PARP-I cost and side effects could improve patient experience and receipt of evidence-based maintenance therapy in ovarian cancer.PMID:38691987 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.04.018 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Analysis of factors affecting pregnancy rate after laparoscopic surgery for infertility associated with endometriosis
CONCLUSION: For patients with EMs-related infertility undergoing laparoscopic surgery, factors such as age > 35 years, infertility duration > 3 years, concurrent adenomyosis, severe EMs, surgery duration ≥ 2 h, intraoperative blood loss ≥ 50 ml, and low AMH before surgery are detrimental for the pregnancy rate within the first postoperative year. However, BMI, dysmenorrhea, past history of pelvic surgery, EMs pathology types (ovarian, peritoneal, deep infiltrating),and preoperative result of serum CA125 barely show any statistical difference in their effect on postoperative pregnancy rates. In terms of postoperat...

Exome sequencing in genuine empty follicle syndrome: Novel candidate genes
CONCLUSION: As a conclusion, we identified new candidate genes related to gEFS that expand the mutational spectrum of genes related to gEFS.This study show that WES might be an efficient tool to identify the genetic etiology of gEFS and provide further understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of gEFS.PMID:38691974 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.04.029 (Source: Reproductive Biology)
