Autologous platelet-rich plasma for assisted reproduction
CONCLUSIONS: We are uncertain about the effect of intrauterine or intraovarian administration of PRP on outcomes of assisted reproduction technology in infertile women. The pooled results should be interpreted with caution. Only one of the 12 included studies was judged at low risk of bias. Other limitations of the included trials were failure to report live birth, poor reporting of methods, lack of prospective protocol registration, low precision due to the small number of enrolled participants, indirectness due to the specific subpopulations and settings studied, and insufficient or absent safety data.PMID:38682756 | PMC...

The Potential Role of Phytochemicals of < em > Juniperus procera < /em > in the Treatment of Ovarian Cancer and the Inhibition of Human Topoisomerase II Alpha Activity
Bioinform Biol Insights. 2024 Apr 25;18:11779322241248904. doi: 10.1177/11779322241248904. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTA variety of active chemicals found in medicinal plants can be used to develop new medications with few adverse effects. In vitro and in silico analyses were used to evaluate the anticancer properties of Juniperus procera fruit and leaf extracts. Here, we show that the methanolic extract from J procera fruit and leaf extracts inhibits 2 human ovarian cancer cell lines, A2780CP and SKOV-3. The leaf extract demonstrated strong cytotoxicity against A2780CP with an IC50 of 1.2 μg/mL, almost matching the IC50 of ...

The Effect of Thiazolidinediones in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomised Controlled Trials
CONCLUSION: Both pioglitazone and rosiglitazone were associated with significant increases in body weight and BMI when compared with metformin or placebo. Pioglitazone significantly reduced triglycerides and fasting insulin when compared with placebo while rosiglitazone showed a modest reduction of LH when compared with metformin.PROSPERO REGISTRATION NO: CRD42020178783.PMID:38683294 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-024-02848-3 (Source: Adv Data)

Identification of MAD2L1 and BUB1B as Potential Biomarkers Associated with Progression and Prognosis of Ovarian Cancer
This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of ovarian cancer and identify novel tumor biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of ovarian cancer. Three databases containing gene expression profiles specific to serous ovarian cancer (GSE18520, GSE12470, and GSE26712) were acquired. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes were analyzed for the differentially expressed gene (DEGs). The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed using the STRING database. The pivotal genes in the PPI network were screened using the Cytoscape software. Survival curve an...

The Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure of the Multicenter Archipelago of Ovarian Cancer Research Biobank: A Potential Blueprint for Other Biobanks
Conclusion: The IT infrastructure of the AOCR biobank represents a new standard for biobanks, offering flexibility to handle diverse diseases and types of biomaterials. This infrastructure bypasses the need for disease-specific, custom-built software, thereby being cost- and time-effective while ensuring data quality and legislative compliance. The adaptability of this infrastructure highlights its potential to serve as a blueprint for the development of IT infrastructures in both new and existing biobanks.PMID:38682281 | DOI:10.1089/bio.2023.0118 (Source: Biopreservation and Biobanking)

Optimal human ovarian follicle isolation: A review focused on enzymatic digestion
Histol Histopathol. 2024 Apr 12:18747. doi: 10.14670/HH-18-747. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe damage or depletion of ovarian reserves due to aging or cancer treatment can increase the need for fertility preservation techniques. One of the most common ways of supporting fertility in prepubertal girls and women who require immediate cancer treatment is through ovarian tissue cryopreservation and re-transplantation following cancer treatment. However, a more appropriate method should be employed in diseases such as leukemia, where malignant cells may be present in cryopreserved tissue, instead of ovarian tissue transplant...
