High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer during Pregnancy: From Diagnosis to Treatment
CONCLUSIONS: There have not been long-term follow-ups of patients' oncologic and obstetric outcomes. As patients should be comprehensively informed, more detailed case reports or series with longer follow-up periods are needed.PMID:38668047 | PMC:PMC11048790 | DOI:10.3390/curroncol31040144 (Source: Current Oncology)

Ammonia transport in the excretory system of mosquito larvae (Aedes aegypti): Rh protein expression and the transcriptome of the rectum
Comp Biochem Physiol A Mol Integr Physiol. 2024 Apr 24;294:111649. doi: 10.1016/j.cbpa.2024.111649. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe role of the mosquito excretory organs (Malpighian tubules, MT and hindgut, HG) in ammonia transport as well as expression and function of the Rhesus (Rh protein) ammonia transporters within these organs was examined in Aedes aegypti larvae and adult females. Immunohistological examination revealed that the Rh proteins are co-localized with V-type H+-ATPase (VA) to the apical membranes of MT and HG epithelia of both larvae and adult females. Of the two Rh transporter genes present in A. aegyp...

The effectiveness of CA125 and HE4 as clinical prognostic markers in epithelial ovarian cancer patients with BRCA mutation
CONCLUSION: Normalizing both biomarkers emerged as the most effective predictive marker for the 1-year recurrence rate, regardless of BRCA mutational status. A negative HE4 value can be a useful predictor for 1-year recurrence-free survival in patients with BRCA mutations.PMID:38670560 | DOI:10.3802/jgo.2024.35.e80 (Source: Journal of Gynecologic Oncology)

Frequency of Gene Polymorphisms in Admixed Venezuelan Women with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss: Microsomal Epoxy Hydroxylase (rs1051740) and Enos (rs1799983)
This study aimed to assess the frequency of two SNPs present in two different enzymes involved in medical conditions observed during pregnancy. It is a case-control study. Microsomal epoxy hydrolase (mEPH) is involved in detoxifying xenobiotics, is present in the ovaries, and is hormonally regulated. The endothelial nitric oxide synthase (NOS3) that forms nitric is involved in vascular tone. Two SNPs, rs1051740 (mEPH) and rs1799983 (NOS3), were assessed. The study included 50 controls and 63 primary RPL patients. The frequency of mutated alleles in both SNPs was significantly higher in patients (p < 0.05). Double-mutate...

Decreased Serum Levels of the Insulin Resistance-Related microRNA miR-320a in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
In conclusion, we demonstrated a significantly reduced serum level of the IR-associated miR-320a in our patient cohort. This result once again demonstrates the close relationship between metabolic disorders and the dysregulation of microRNA expression patterns in PCOS.PMID:38666942 | PMC:PMC11049427 | DOI:10.3390/cimb46040212 (Source: Current Issues in Molecular Biology)

PARP-Targeted Radiotheranostics with Auger Electrons: An Updated Overview
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2024 Mar 31;46(4):3039-3049. doi: 10.3390/cimb46040190.ABSTRACTAuger electrons (AEs) represent an intriguing topic in the field of radionuclide therapy. They are emitted by several radionuclides commonly used in nuclear medicine (indium-111, iodine-123, iodine-125), allowing for highly localized energy deposition and thus exerting a radiotoxic effect on specific cellular and sub-cellular targets. However, due to their short range in matter, AEs have had limited use in therapeutic applications so far. In recent years, the synthesis of various radiopharmaceuticals capable of binding to the enzyme poly(A...

Tenascin C activates the toll ‑like receptor 4/NF‑κB signaling pathway to promote the development of polycystic ovary syndrome
In conclusion, knockdown of TNC could ameliorate PCOS in both rats and a cell model by inhibiting cell apoptosis, oxidative stress and inflammation via the suppression of the TLR4/NF‑κB signaling pathway.PMID:38666538 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2024.13230 (Source: Molecular Medicine Reports)
