Metabolite profiling, enzyme inhibitory activity and antioxidant potential of different extracts from Glycyrrhiza foetida Desf. (Fabaceae, Galegeae, Glycyrrhizinae)
Fitoterapia. 2024 Jan 2:105792. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2023.105792. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTObesity, a risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes, represents a socio-economic burden for healthcare systems. Consequently multiple studies aiming to facilitate early diagnostic and prevent complications have demonstrated the promising role of phenolic derivatives on diabetes management. In this frame, the present study aimed to establish for the first time the chemical ingredients and to appraise the antioxidant and the enzyme inhibitory properties of Glycyrrhiza foetida aerial parts and roots extracts using methan...

A comprehensive investigation of an approach for 144Ce-separation as a by-product of the fission molybdenum-99 process
AbstractCerium-144 (144Ce), as a long-lived β emitter radioisotope (Eβavg = 82.25 keV, T1/2 = 284.9 d), is a potentially promising radionuclide to be used in various medical and industrial applications. In this paper, an optimized process for the separation of144Ce from fission products is reported. Following the MCNPX calculation results, an equivalent solution was experimentally prepared that is similar to the waste solution of local99Mo production via the fission method. For analyzing the steps of the radiochemical process, the suitable radioisotope tracers created from the activation method and were added to ...

Association between urinary multiple metals and platelet-related parameters: A cross-sectional study in a metal-contaminated area of China
In conclusion, the study highlights the associations between multiple metal exposures and platelet indices, suggesting that elevated levels of the metal mixture may impede platelet activation in the population in metal-contaminated areas.PMID:38170364 | DOI:10.1007/s11356-023-31775-z (Source: Environmental Science and Pollution Research International)

3D Flower ‐like Nanospheres Constructed by Transition Metal Telluride Nanosheets as Sulfur Immobilizers for High‐Performance Room‐Temperature Na‐S Batteries
In this study, an advanced strategy by designing 3D flower-like molybdenum telluride (MoTe2) as an efficient catalyst to promote sulfur redox for RT Na-S batteries is presented. The unique 3D flower-like MoTe2 effectively prevents NaPS shuttling and simultaneously offers abundant active catalytic sites facilitating polysulfide redox. Consequently, the obtained MoTe2/S cathode delivers an outstanding initial reversible capacity of 1015  mAh g−1 at 0.1  C, along with robust cycling stability of retaining 498 mAh g−1 at 1  C after 500 cycles. In addition, pouch cells are fabricated with the MoTe2 additive to deliver...

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 216: Synthesis of Seven Indolizine-Derived Pentathiepines: Strong Electronic Structure Response to Nitro Substitution in Position C-9
rola Schulzke Seven new 1,2,3,4,5-pentathiepino[6,7-a]indolizines were synthesized in which the pentathiepine moieties bear an indolizine backbone that is derivatized from C–H to F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, NO2-, and CH3-substitutions, respectively, in a meta position relative to the aza group on the pyridine moiety. Their preparation took place via two common steps: (i) a Sonogashira coupling between (4-substituted) 2-bromo- or 2-chloropyridines and propynyl 3,3-diethylacetal, and (ii) a ring closing reaction mediated by a molybdenum oxo-bistetrasulfido complex and elemental sulfur. The latter simultaneously facil...

J Proteomics. 2023 Dec 26:105061. doi: 10.1016/j.jprot.2023.105061. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPaenibacillus sonchi SBR5T is a Gram-positive, endospore-forming facultative aerobic diazotrophic bacterium that can fix nitrogen via an alternative Fe-only nitrogenase (AnfHDGK). In several bacteria, this alternative system is expressed under molybdenum (Mo)-limiting conditions when the conventional Mo-dependent nitrogenase (NifHDK) production is impaired. The regulatory mechanisms, metabolic processes, and cellular functions of N2 fixation by alternative and/or conventional systems are poorly understood in the Paenibacillus ...
