Novel Chemo-Photothermal Therapy in Hepatic Cancer Using Gemcitabine-Loaded Hyaluronic Acid Conjugated MoS < sub > 2 < /sub > /ZnO Nanocomposites
Appl Biochem Biotechnol. 2023 Dec 27. doi: 10.1007/s12010-023-04796-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHepatocellular carcinoma is a serious illness with a high rate of mortality. A high dose of theranostic drugs with efficient diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities should be required. Chemo-photothermal therapy is presently recognized as a secure method of cancer treatment that specifically targets tumour tissue or cells. Additionally, the success of cancer therapy is increased by the use of targeted nanoparticles. The current study aims to investigate the interaction between phototherapy and the anti-hepatocellular carcin...

Syngas Production by Chemical Looping Dry Reforming of Methane over Ni-modified MoO3/ZrO2
Chem Asian J. 2023 Dec 25:e202301096. doi: 10.1002/asia.202301096. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe investigated supported-MoO3 materials effective for the chemical looping dry reforming of methane (CL-DRM) to decrease the reaction temperature. Ni-modified molybdenum zirconia (Ni/MoO3/ZrO2) showed CL-DRM activity under isothermal reaction conditions of 650 °C, which was 100-200 °C lower than the previously reported oxide-based materials. Ni/MoO3/ZrO2 activity strongly depends on the MoO3 loading amount. The optimal loading amount was 9.0 wt.% (Ni/MoO3(9.0)/ZrO2), wherein two-dimensional polymolybdate species were dominan...

A "signal off-on" fluorescence bioassay based on 2D-MoS < sub > 2 < /sub > -tetrahedral DNA bioconjugate for rapid virus detection
Talanta. 2023 Dec 15;270:125497. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2023.125497. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work we present the preparation of a 2D molybdenum disulphide nanosheets (2D-MoS2) and tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) bioconjugate, and its application to the development of a bioassay for rapid and easy virus detection. The bioconjugate has been prepared by using TDNs carrying the capture probe labelled with 6-carboxyfluoresceine (6-FAM). As case of study to assess the utility of the assay developed, we have chosen the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Hence, as probe we have used a DNA sequence complementary to a region of t...

Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 109: Development and Application of an Atomic Absorption Spectrometry-Based Method to Quantify Magnesium in Leaves of Dioscorea polystachya
cker The Chinese yam (Dioscorea polystachya, DP) is known for the nutritional value of its tuber. Nevertheless, DP also has promising pharmacological properties. Compared with the tuber, the leaves of DP are still very little studied. However, it may be possible to draw conclusions about the plant quality based on the coloration of the leaves. Magnesium, as a component of chlorophyll, seems to play a role. Therefore, the aim of this research work was to develop an atomic absorption spectrometry-based method for the analysis of magnesium (285.2125 nm) in leaf extracts of DP following the graphite furnace sub-technique. ...

A Short ‐Range Ordered α‐MoO3 with Modulated Interlayer Structure via Hydrogen Bond Chemistry for NH4+ Storage
The short-range ordered α-MoO3 with the pre-intercalation of NH4+ is prepared as the anode for aqueous NH4+ storage. The electrode displays the significantly improved specific capacity and cyclic lifespan in 2  m NH4Ac aqueous electrolyte, which is attributed to the decreased ion diffusion pathway, and boosted structural stability enabled by elaborate design on the interlayer structure via hydrogen bond chemistry. AbstractThe layered orthorhombic molybdenum trioxide ( α-MoO3) is a promising host material for NH4+ storage. But its electrochemical performances are still unsatisfactory due to the absence of fundamental und...

Associations of urinary metal concentrations with anemia: A cross-sectional study of Chinese community-dwelling elderly
CONCLUSIONS: Multiple metals are associated with anemia in the older adult population. A significant positive association was observed between metal mixture concentrations and anemia, with Te being the most important factor. The association between urinary metal concentrations and anemia is more sensitive in the non-hypertensive populations.PMID:38118331 | DOI:10.1016/j.ecoenv.2023.115828 (Source: Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety)
