Distribution of Urinary Trace Element Exposure and Dietary Sources in Women Over 50 in an Agricultural Region- A community-based KoGES cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Our study underscores the significant gap in understanding urinary concentrations of trace elements in women aged over 50. With higher concentrations of certain elements compared to previous studies and significant correlations between age, smoking, and specific food sources, it is imperative to address this gap through targeted dietary source-specific risk management.PMID:38679278 | DOI:10.1016/j.envres.2024.118973 (Source: Environmental Research)

Enhanced Uranium Extraction via Charge Dynamics and Interfacial Polarization in MoS < sub > 2 < /sub > /GO Heterojunction Electrodes
Small. 2024 Apr 25:e2401374. doi: 10.1002/smll.202401374. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe removal of uranyl ions (UO2 2+) from water is challenging due to their chemical stability, low concentrations, complex water matrix, and technical limitations in extraction and separation. Herein, a novel molybdenum disulfide/graphene oxide heterojunction (MoS2/GO-H) is developed, serving as an effective electrode for capacitive deionization (CDI). By combining the inherent advantages of electroadsorption and electrocatalysis, an innovative electroadsorption-electrocatalysis system (EES) strategy is introduced. This system utilizes ...

Synthesis of ultrathin hybrid membranes via the co-polymerization of acrylic acid, styrene and molybdenum disulfide and their high adsorption selectivity for lead(II) in the mixture of metal ions
Environ Pollut. 2024 Apr 23:124019. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2024.124019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLead(II) is a potential carcinogen of heavy-metal ions (HIs). With the wide application of Pb-bearing products including lead alloy products, and new-energy lead-ion batteries, lead pollution has become a tricky problem. To solve such a difficulty, novel ultrathin MoS2-vinyl hybrid membranes (MVHMs) with a "spring" effect were synthesized via co-polymerization of acrylic acid, styrene and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and their adsorptions for HIs were explored. The "spring" effect derived from the interaction between the ten...

Enhanced Uranium Extraction via Charge Dynamics and Interfacial Polarization in MoS2/GO Heterojunction Electrodes
This study introduces a novel molybdenum disulfide/graphene oxide heterojunction (MoS2/GO-H) electrode for effective uranium ion (UO22+) removal from water through capacitive deionization (CDI). Employing an innovative electroadsorption-electrocatalysis system (EES) strategy that leverages interface polarization at the MoS2 and GO interface, it significantly enhances removal efficiency, achieving over 90% uranium removal in the presence of competing ions. AbstractThe removal of uranyl ions (UO22+) from water is challenging due to their chemical stability, low concentrations, complex water matrix, and technical limitations ...

Associations among environmental exposure to trace elements and biomarkers of early kidney damage in the pediatric population
Conclusions. Among the explored metals, exposure to Cu and iodine impairs renal function. In contrast, Se may manifest as a beneficial metal. Interactions of Mo-Se and Mo-Iodine seem to alter the expression of NGAL; Mo-Cu for CLU; Mo-Cu, Mo-Se, and Mo-iodine for Cys-C and a-1MG; and Mo-Cu and Mo-iodine for KIM-1; were noticed. Our study could suggest that trace element interactions were associated with early kidney damage biomarkers.PMID:38642266 | DOI:10.1007/s10534-024-00603-3 (Source: Biometals)

Shared functions of FeS cluster assembly and Moco biosynthesis
Biochim Biophys Acta Mol Cell Res. 2024 Apr 15:119731. doi: 10.1016/j.bbamcr.2024.119731. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMolybdenum cofactor (Moco) biosynthesis is a complex process that involves the coordinated function of several proteins. In the recent years it has become evident that the availability of FeS clusters play an important role for the biosynthesis of Moco. First, the MoaA protein binds two [4Fe-4S] clusters per monomer. Second, the expression of the moaABCDE and moeAB operons is regulated by FNR, which senses the availability of oxygen via a functional [4Fe4S] cluster. Finally, the conversion of cyclic pyran...
