Molybdenum - a scoping review for Nordic Nutrition Recommendations 2023
Food Nutr Res. 2023 Dec 14;67. doi: 10.29219/fnr.v67.10326. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTMolybdenum is an essential element in the form of the molybdenum cofactor (Moco). In humans, Moco is required for four enzymes: xanthine oxidase (XO), aldehyde oxidase, sulfite oxidase (SO), and mitochondrial amidoxime-reducing component (mARC). The enzymes are involved in the oxidation of purines to uric acid, metabolism of aromatic aldehydes and heterocyclic compounds, and in the catabolism of sulfur amino acids. Molybdenum cofactor deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive syndrome due to a defective synthesis of Moco, resulting in a def...

Effect of Polyphenolic Composition BP-C2 on Lung Carcinogenesis Induced by Urethane in Progeny of Irradiated Male BALB/c Mice
We studied the effects of polyphenolic composition BP-C2, comprising molybdenum with lignin derivatives, on lung carcinogenesis induced by urethane in the progeny of F0 male BALB/c mice preconceptionally exposed to radiation in a dose of 1 Gy. The multiplicity of lung tumors in the progeny of irradiated mice was higher than in the progeny of non-irradiated male parents by 50% in females and 43% in males (p<0.05). In F1 mice (progeny of irradiated F0 male parents treated with BP-C2), the multiplicity of lung tumors was also higher, but this increase was less pronounced: 35% in females (p=0.3852) and 23% in males (p=0.076...

Inverse association between maternal serum concentrations of trace elements and risk of spontaneous preterm birth: A nested case-control study in China
This study aimed to examine the relationships between the individual or mixed maternal serum concentrations of iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), strontium (Sr) and molybdenum (Mo) during pregnancy, and risk of SPTB.Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was employed to determine maternal serum concentrations of the six trace elements in 192 cases with SPTB and 282 controls with full-term delivery. Multivariate logistic regression, weighted quantile sum regression (WQSR) and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) were used to evaluate the individual and joint effects of trace elements on SPTB. The m...

Hemin/G-quadruplex and AuNPs-MoS < sub > 2 < /sub > based novel dual signal amplification strategy for ultrasensitively sandwich-type electrochemical thrombin aptasensor
Bioelectrochemistry. 2023 Dec 26;157:108635. doi: 10.1016/j.bioelechem.2023.108635. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work, a novel sandwich-type electrochemical aptasensor based on the dual signal amplification strategy of hemin/G-quadruplex and AuNPs-MoS2 was designed and constructed, which realized the highly sensitive and specific detection of thrombin (TB). In this aptasensor, the 15-mer TB-binding aptamer (TBA-1) modified with thiol group was immobilized on the surface of AuNPs modified glassy carbon electrode (AuNPs/GCE) as capturing elements. Another thiol-modified 29-mer TB-binding aptamer (TBA-2) sequence con...

Innovative flow-through reaction system for the sustainable production of phenolic monomers from lignocellulose catalyzed by supported Mo2C
ChemSusChem. 2024 Jan 5:e202301591. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202301591. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMolybdenum carbide supported on activated carbon (β-Mo2C/AC) has been teste as catalyst in the reductive catalytic fractionation (RCF) of lignocellulosic biomass both in batch and in Flow-Through (FT) reaction systems. High phenolic monomer yields (35 wt.%) and selectivity to monomers with reduced side alkyl chains (up to 80 wt.%) could be achieved in batch in the presence of hydrogen. FT-RCF were made with no hydrogen feed, thus via transfer hydrogenation from ethanol. Similar selectivity could be attained in FT-RCF using high ...

Humidity activated ultra-selective room temperature gas sensor based on W doped MoS < sub > 2 < /sub > /RGO composites for trace level ammonia detection
Anal Chim Acta. 2024 Jan 25;1287:342075. doi: 10.1016/j.aca.2023.342075. Epub 2023 Nov 30.ABSTRACTThe lack of highly efficient, cost effective and stable ammonia gas sensors functionable at room temperature even in extreme humid environments poses significant challenge for the future generation gas sensors. The prime factors that impede the development of such next generation gas sensors are the strong interference of humidity and sluggish selectivity. Herein, we fabricated tungsten doped molybdenum disulphide/reduced graphene oxide composite by an in-situ hydrothermal method to exploit the adsorption, dissolution (solubil...
