Right Ventrolateral and Left Dorsolateral 10  Hz Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation as an Add-On Treatment for Bipolar I and II Depression: a Double-Blind, Randomised, Three-Arm, Sham-Controlled Study
CONCLUSIONS: While not demonstrating the superiority of either 10Hz rTMS over sham, with the limited sample size, we can not rule out a moderate yet clinically meaningful effect. Further well-powered studies are essential to elucidate the role of rTMS in managing BDE.PMID:38785073 | DOI:10.1080/15622975.2024.2357110 (Source: The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry)

Serum Levels of Zinc, Albumin, Interleukin-6 and CRP in Patients with Unipolar and Bipolar Depression: Cross Sectional Study
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2024 May 9;46(5):4533-4550. doi: 10.3390/cimb46050275.ABSTRACTUnipolar (UD) and bipolar depression (BDD) show a high degree of similarity in clinical presentations, which complicates the differential diagnosis of these disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the serum levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP), albumin (Alb), and zinc (Zn) in patients with UD, BDD, and healthy controls (HC). A total of 211 samples were collected: 131 patient samples (65 UD and 68 BDD) and 80 HC. The Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), along with the Hamilton Depression Rating S...

Evaluation des Troubles Cognitifs Chez des Patients Tunisiens Atteints de Trouble Bipolaire en R émission : Étude Cas-Témoins: Assessment of Cognitive Impairment in Tunisian Patients With Bipolar Disorder in Remission: A Case-Control Study
CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that bipolar patients in remission presented significantly more marked cognitive impairments, affecting various cognitive domains, than the controls. These cognitive impairments appear to be linked to clinical and therapeutic factors that are themselves considered to be factors of poor prognosis in BD.PMID:38783828 | DOI:10.1177/07067437241253631 (Source: Canadian Journal of Psychiatry)
