Participation of Somatic Stem Cells, Recognized by a Unique A3 Antibody, in Mucosal Epithelial Regeneration in Dextran Sulfate Sodium (DSS)-Induced Rat Colonic Lesions.
Abstract A3, generated as a monoclonal antibody against rat malignant fibrous histiocytoma cells, recognizes somatic stem cells in rats. We analyzed the distribution of A3-positive cells in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colonic lesions consisting of regenerating mucosa and fibrosis. Male 6-week-old F344 rats were administered 5% DSS in drinking water for 5 to 7 days, and lesions at recovery stage were also examined. In untreated control adult colons, A3-positive cells are localized around the crypts where stem cell niche is formed. Histopathologically, in colons of DSS-administered rats, mucosal atr...

Surgical Treatment of Oral Cavity Nodular Fasciitis
Background: Nodular fascitiis is a myofibroblastic neoplasm of the soft tissue that rarely affects oral cavity. With a broad pattern of presentation, sometimes Nodular Fascitiis can have a rapid growth and appear highly cellular with local aggressiveness on biopsies, thus simulating a sarcoma. The aim of this paper is to present a case of troublesome diagnosis of nodular fascitiis mimicking a Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma, with the purpose of alert clinicians and pathologists on the difficulties that can be met in the differential diagnosis between these 2 lesions. A 42-year-old male presented an exophytic lesion on the...

The Management of Head and Neck Sarcoma
Conclusions: Head and neck sarcomas, although rare, can represent a variety of pathological diagnoses. Surgery remains the main intervention although the data suggest chemotherapy, radical resection and irradiation as treatment. Outcomes are poor with high rates of local recurrence. Positive prognostic factors were tumor-free resection margins and choice of therapy. Due to the rarity of head and neck sarcoma, information remains limited and choice of treatment should be within the focus of clinical multi-center studies. (Source: Journal of Craniofacial Surgery)

Rare pancreatic metastasis of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma originating from the pelvis: a case report
ConclusionsComplete resection is vital for local control in pancreatic metastasis of UPS. Sites of recurrence are rare; hence, patients must be carefully followed up. (Source: International Journal of Surgery Case Reports)

IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 1426: Oral Health and Molecular Aspects of Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma Patients: A Systematic Review of the Literature
Stasio Luigi Laino Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is one of the most common soft tissue sarcomas in adults. It occurs only occasionally in oral soft tissues, and knowledge about its characteristics is based on a limited number of cases reported in the literature. Malignant fibrous histiocytoma belongs to the group of soft tissue sarcomas and makes up less than 10% of soft tissue sarcomas. For therapeutic purposes, complete exeresis of the lesion (macroscopic and microscopic) is performed because they have frequent recurrences. As for complementary therapy in addition to surgery, neither radiotherapy nor chemotherapy...

Efficacy and Safety of Nanosomal Docetaxel Lipid Suspension-Based Chemotherapy in Sarcoma: A Multicenter, Retrospective Study.
Conclusion: Nanosomal docetaxel lipid suspension-based chemotherapy was efficacious and well tolerated in the treatment of sarcoma. Further prospective trials are needed to confirm the data. PMID: 31827370 [PubMed] (Source: Sarcoma)

Primary undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (Malignant fibrous histiocytoma) of the lung: A case report
Primary UPS of the lung, so ‐called MFH, is a rare aggressive neoplasm and known to be a high risk of recurrence and metastasis. Surgical resection without residual tumor is the main option of treatment and the best chance for long‐term survival. Pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytoma in bladder diverticulum
Publication date: Available online 18 November 2019Source: Urology Case ReportsAuthor(s): C. García Alvarez, R.J. González Alvarez, A.C. Plata Bello, H. Alvarez-Argüelles Cabrera, T. Concepción MasipAbstractThe Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma is a very rare cancer and rather exceptional when located in bladder diverticulum. it occurs in men in their sixties, manifests itself through haematuria and/or irritative micturition. There is not a causal association. An immunohistochemical analysis is necessary to establish a differential diagnosis. It is aggressive, with a high rate of local recurrence and remote progression, t...

Differing characteristics of cartilaginous lesions  of the larynx
ConclusionWhen true laryngeal sarcomas do exist, they may prove to be challenging lesions both for the pathologist and the treating clinician. The diagnostic problems are mainly a result of the infrequent exposure of clinicians and diagnosticians to these lesions. (Source: European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology)

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma arising from the renal capsule and gene mutation screening: A case report
We present here the case of a 77-year-old man who was incidentally found to have a huge right renal mass on computed tomography. Radical nephrectomy was performed. Pathological diagnosis was MFH arising from the renal capsule. We used Ion AmpliSeq Cancer Hotspot Panel version 2 primers to perform gene mutation screening. We detected 13 mutations in 11 hotspot oncogenes (CSF1R, FGFR3, KDR, APC, PDGFRA, TP53, FLT3, ERBB4, KIT, STK11, RET), but these were not matched to driver mutations. (Source: Urology Case Reports)

[Atypical fibroxanthoma and pleomorphic dermal sarcoma].
Authors: Ziemer M, Jäger IM, Dippel E Abstract Atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX) or undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) is a rare malignant neoplastic disease of the skin. At the beginning of the 1960s AFX was described as an independent entity and superficial variant of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH). Since then, many controversies on the classification have arisen mainly because in many cases dedifferentiated neoplasms from other origins were falsely diagnosed as AFX. A relevant deep expansion, the invasion of nerves and vessels or the presence of tumor necrosis are described as being typical fo...

Hypertensive Crisis during Microwave Ablation of Adrenal Neoplasms: A Retrospective Analysis of Predictive Factors
ConclusionHC can occur during MW ablation in patients with either primary or metastatic adrenal tumors. Pheochromocytoma, body mass index, tumor size, and pre-procedural systolic blood pressure appear to be significant risk factors for the occurrence of HC. Rapidly Progressive Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma of Right Atrium: a Rare Case Report
Abstract We are going to present a case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma in the right atrium, which is a very rare entity. The patient had a right atrial mass, which prolapsed through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle, causing functional tricuspid valve stenosis. The tumor was completely resected and the patient had an uneventful postoperative period. Histopathological examination reported malignant fibrous histiocytoma. The patient presented to the emergency department five weeks after discharge with dyspnea and palpitation. Echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed recurrent right atrial tumor ...
